The family that established this place is well-rooted in the islands and great Love of not only the islands but, their cozy establishment.   The location is in a quiet area of town so you will get a better nights rest, each room is different so its like staying at a B&B rather than a stale hotel room.  The best part is your host, Juan Carlos is an excellent host and his hospitality is a credit to his family.  He made us feel right at home and very comfortable.

The best part of Maidith is how helpful and available Juan Carlos, the onsite owner/manager is.
Breakfast was included and is very good, usually consisting of an egg dish, fruit, yogurt, rolls, coffee.
The ambience is very pleasant, although the room was lacking in some details:  not enough cabinet/dresser space, the bathroom sink had only cold water, no cabinet at the sink, the only outlet in the bathroom was on a wall with no handy shelves to put anything on.

Welcoming hotel

Amazing inn! Our host Juan Carlos could not have been more helpful, he connected us with transportation, activities, restaurants, even medical care. He was always available and informative. The inn itself is beautiful, comfortable, clean and in an excellent location in Puerto Ayora, we could walk to everything. The breakfast was freshly made and delicious. I would definitely return to Maidith Galapagos Inn and highly recommend!

Maidith – We miss you already!
The Galapagos Islands are a magical and unique place. So is Hotel Maidith. The Mediterranean beauty is a feast for the eyes. The stonework and mosaic tile adorn the building and courtyard. The pool is refreshing and surrounded by beautiful flowers. There are hammocks and benches to enjoy the decorative lights in the evening. Each room has been designed to be completely unique. In fact, they are a name, not numbered. We stayed in Gaviota, which had a queen bed on the upper level, a large twin on the middle level, and two large twins on the bottom level. Each “level” may be just a step down or half of a flight of stairs. There are turrets and fanciful windows. Each room conveniently offers filtered water and a minifridge. The beds and pillows are comfortable, and the air conditioning is very refreshing. 

However, the best feature is the owner, Juan Carlos. His mother, María Edith, for whom the hotel is named, began building this boutique hotel just a short walk from wonderful restaurants, the Charles Darwin Research Center, and the passenger pier, with careful attention to detail. She is beloved by her community for her work to expand services to Santa Cruz. Her son, Juan Carlos, has recently renovated the hotel. He has years of experience in the tourism industry, and it shows. He greeted us upon arrival with maps, recommendations (including discounts to local restaurants and shops), and tips. He checked on us constantly to be sure we were happily enjoying our stay. His staff are very accommodating and friendly. They cook and amazing breakfast (included), which we enjoyed on the pool terrace. They are happy to help with transportation arrangement, too. We were sad to leave the Galapagos and Maidith, but look forward to returning some day. When we do, we know exactly where we will stay again!

Unforgettable Stay at Hotel Maidith: A Gem in the Galapagos

This was our first stop on our Galapagos Islands adventure and it really set the tone for a "beyond my bucket list dreams" trip of a lifetime. We were welcomed upon arrival by the owners/operators who immediately made us feel like family. They are kind, warm, knowledgeable and so pleasant to chat and spend time with during our stay. The hotel definitely stands out from the other with it's unique Grecian design features and artistic vibe. It is a few blocks up from the main street which is the perfect location for quiet but accessible. The small pool was also such a nice way to cool off after a long day of fun activities and the homemade daily breakfast and fresh baked bread was a perfect way to start the day. During the booking process, all of my question were answered through email replies with a day and it really helped us decide on where to stay and what room to choose. The rooms are great! We had three adults in our room and it was really spacious and had really sweet details that made it special. We only stayed two nights but could easily have enjoyed staying much longer just for the lovely hospitality. Thank you for setting the tone for our amazing Galapagos adventure!

The perfect place to stay on Santa Cruz

Excellent location, close to centre of Puerto Ayora with its restaurants, shops and docks, minutes from The Charles Darwin Research Centre, charming property, very clean rooms, comfortable beds, pool, hammocks, good breakfast, excellent service!
What stands out and sets Maidith Inn apart from other properties is the genuine kindness, dedication, knowledge, and service provided by this family run business.
Elvira, Juan Carlos and family are the very best host you can find and they become part of the wonderful experience of visiting The Galapagos Islands

Home away from Home!

WE LOVED MAIDITH AND WOULD RETURN IN A SECOND! Juan Carlos and his staff were wonderful, very accommodating, serviceable, and friendly. They treated us like family.  

PROS: 
- "Close to the action" but not so close that it is noisy.
- Pool - We have a 5-year-old daughter and the small pool (jacuzzi-sized) kept her busy and happy when we were not out on excursions. The pool turned out to be a lifesaver for our daughter and also for us, since it was very hot, even in March. 
- Safety - We felt very safe at all times. Puerto Ayora felt very safe at all times, but also at Maidith the door to the street was kept locked at night and because it is small enough, there wasn't as much coming and going throughout the day. 
- Breakfast - Each day our breakfast was delicious and made right when we walked in. Fresh fruit and food.
- Location - 5 minute walk to the main street but also right across the street from Galapagos Dreams, through which we did all our excursions. There is also a couple of minimarts down the block if you need basics.
- Treated us like family - Juan Carlos even kept an eye on our daughter when she got antsy to get going and we were still getting ready. He also gave us a recommendation for a private driver in Quito, since he knew we were anxious about safety, especially as we had our daughter with us.
- Juan Carlos is working on updates to the hotel. Our room (at the very top) had not been updated yet (it was perfectly fine nonetheless) but we had a huge roof terrace all to ourselves which was a lifesaver for setting things out to dry. 

CONS:
- Poor wifi - I have to mention this because it is true, but I also have to say that we found this to be the case throughout the Galapagos, period. It has nothing to do with Maidith.
- Bedding - My husband found the beds and pillows to be not very comfortable and they made it difficult for him to rest. I did not find them super comfortable but was able to sleep fine. 

TIP: Make reservations directly with the hotel. I initially booked through a third-party website but there was a glitch and I had to rebook directly with Juan Carlos. Soooo glad I did because we saved about $200. 

Maidith was the best place we could have stayed!

Juan Carlos and his staff go out of their way to make you feel like family! We stayed here for a week and will definitely be back! The rooms are neat and clean, the location is a block off one of the main roads so it is quiet, yet close to activities. The whole hotel is very enchanting with a whimsical design throughout. As great as the establishment is, the staff is among the best we’ve ever had. They adjusted their schedules to accommodate us. They are simply the best. If I could rate more than 5 stars I certainly would!

Very nice hotel, beautiful edifice. The owner is very professional helpful and kind. The breakfast is amazing . Our room was lovely.  The pool was clean and quaint .I would absolutely recommend this hotel to any traveler to the islands. I've been to 20 countries and i think i enjoyed this hotelote than any other i can remember 

Best hotel I've ever stayed in

Stayed here one night following our short cruise. A very convenient and welcoming place to relax. Quiet but just a stones throw from little shops & eateries & only a few minutes walk from the port & main square. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, everything provided, tasteful decoration, a nice courtyard garden with small pool to cool off, and the loveliest hosts who were always available but not intrusive, we felt very 'at home'. Good coffee and breakfast too.
