We were surprised, the rating on Expedia showed 4.7 and this was our worst stay experience…. Something went wrong here.  There are many nice places close by that had lower ratings and were much better in every way, sorry to say this.

We were a little surprised with how nice the reviews are here, but sadly this place did not live up to our expectations. First, the pros: The location is decent, it's a bit of a walk from the restaurants/shops but it's a nice walk, so no complaints there. The garden inside was peaceful and beautiful.

Now for the cons, room was large but something irritated our family's skin staying here - bed bugs? Not sure. Breakfast was not worth it. Also found out speaking with other guests we basically paid double what they did even though we paid cash since we booked in advance/online - our loss, your gain if you decide to stay here, but still a bit of a bummer. Owner was also hesitant to give back change the next day.  Overall, I would say there are other places to stay while in Puerto Ayora that are better and would not recommend staying here.

Recommend staying somewhere else

I'm travelling a lot - but this was one of the best places I ever was: lots of place, perfect service, much nice green area outside and good location. The best was Angie and Louis, who are the most friendliest owner I ever met. They would have done everything for us even in the difficult times of the corona virus we are having at the moment. Thanks a lot to them - we will come back for sure!

The minute you walk into the secluded courtyard, you realize the pictures online don't do this place justice. It feels like staying in a home, pristine, clean and charming. Angie and Luis are so kind welcoming and helpful. Everything is functional, and the air conditioning is really a welcome thing after a hot muggy day. Thank you, definitely would stay here again!!

Wonderful

Mi Caleta Inn was quiet. Luis and Ange were very helpful, even making us breakfast to go for our early morning ferry. 😁 It was super close to the Darwin Research Station. The kitchen was equipped enough for us to make an evening meal.

Fantastic place. The couple who run the hotel are super friendly and helpful. They provide a lovely breakfast. It is in a good location, quiet with a lovely garden.

Excellent hotel

we stayed for 3 days after a cruise trip, Luis was really nice and helpful. 

Breakfast is very good, you could ask for more bread if needed. And thanks again for your tips of getting a hair cut on the island.

Mi Caleta is a nice place. Beds are comfy. Breakfast is good. Garden with hammocks is super cute. Staff were nice. A/C in room was loud and inefficient at cooling, but the noise blocked the construction sounds taking place nearby. 

So why the poor review? Two reasons. Upon arrival, a woman knocked on my room door and began interrogating me about a tour I had contacted an operator about but not confirmed, as they acted in a shady and unprofessional manner. She acted as though she was with the hotel. Later, the hotel would tell me they didn't know who she was. Well, I sure didn't either. So why did they let her in the locked front gate to accost their guests?

Secondly, I lost over $200 from the room. As there is no safe, I had tucked my cash (a large amount as I was heading to Isabela where the ATMs are unreliable) inside another wallet and had hidden it inside my travel pillow. On the second day, I noticed that the wallet and pillow were disturbed along with other items in the room, but (stupidly, in hindsight) did not count it again right then and there since many items were moved due to the cleaning. On the third day, the money was counted and all but a single $20 (strategically wrapped to hide the missing bills) was gone. The hotel claims only us occupants and the housekeeping entered the room and stridently defended the housekeeper. They were unable to explain how money magically disappears from a hidden wallet that never left the room though. I had my debit card with me so I was able to withdraw additional funds, but being robbed rather darkens your vacation experience.

Nice hotel, if you keep your valuables on you.

We stayed here for 4 days and have a very good time. The room is fine with  refrigerator and coffee Maschine. There is a big kitchen, who everywhere can use.

There is also a nice garden. We can recommend this place.

Very fine hotel to a chip price

Nice big rooms (I think we were upgraded), very friendly staff. Good free wifi. ESPN on the TV. Large bathroom with good shower.
It's a bit from the central area, but closer to the research station where there's beaches too.
Breakfast was nice.
Recommended.
