This hotel  charge  the 12% vat tax to tourist  by law In Ecuador  tourist are excempt  from the 12% Iva tax.
They give me the excuse that their system have no way to erase it..but that is not my problem. I asked for a credit maybe on food and they declined it.instead.  They gave me a receipt and told me to claim my refund from the sri tax kiosk at the airport.. there is no kiosk for tax refunds in cuenca Airport.!!. Thieves

They don't  follow the tax laws of Ecuador .

A tourist trap under the guise of a resort. The general management of the property is focused on catering to tour buses and commercial fishing operation company outside of the services fort the guests. Rooms are worn and general structure of facility is compromised by underlying erosion affecting building structure.

Overnight

Expensive and beautiful cabins. The Employees are intimidated by the management, there  is very poor customer service and rude!  Ecuador has many great places to enjoy the view, activities and good food.

Do not waist time and money here! 

We work remotely and booked this spot because of their “high speed internet” in a place where it’s somewhat remote. We arrive and ask if we can get our room 15-30m early because our son is special needs and is having trouble with the altitude. Not only was it not ready early, but we got it 30m late. 

We booked a bungalow for the privacy so the kids would be upstairs and we could work downstairs. We try to connect to the internet and the download speed was 1.98mbps. We call the desk. They say it’s connecting at 14 for them in our room (still much too slow for our zoom-based jobs). They offer us the common area. At almost $200 a room, we’re not paying to work from a lobby. 

We were told no less than six times that someone was going to fix it. Our issue started at 3PM when we first tried to connect. It is now almost midnight and still no decent internet. Every time we saw someone it was “we’re working on it! Five more minutes!” Lol. Five more minutes my butt. It was five more minutes til their shift was ended and it became someone else’s problem. 

Then there was the fire. We had someone come in to light it at 6, the earliest time they have people come in. We called at nine because it was dying. Nobody around to help out. At 10 they said they’d send someone. It’s midnight and that person still hasn’t materialized. 

And our jacuzzi was nice and all but the water pressure is abysmal and takes almost an hour to fill and they probably haven’t cleaned the drain in years because it took 30m to empty. 

The food here is great, but the service is awful for the price you’re paying. We were going to book a second night but no way in hell at that point. If they can’t provide internet be a fire, we’re done.

Beautiful room, but doesn’t include what you pay for

It was the best night ever. We booked the most expensive room with the 2 amenities that they offer as something special (fireplace and jacuzzi) and awesome views. As soon as we got there everything was full, the reception is in the middle of the chaos of their souvenir store and the receptionist was so rude. We were surprised when we realized that the rooms were just upstairs of the most crowded room in this place and the only thing that separates the common areas that everyone can use (even if you are not staying at the hotel) from the rooms was a cheese table that blocks the entrance to the stairs.
The room was nothing that we were expected for what we payed, there was only one big window with a view of a super dirty cealing with mud and puddles. About their “special” features that we payed for: the jacuzzi was broken and we couldn’t use it and the fireplace was not working properly and all the smoke stayed inside the room during the whole night, it affected to our respiration and we got headache.
The worst part was the night, we always look for a relaxing place where we can rest and sleep deeply, we couldn’t do that in this place. We could hear every little detail from the people next door, it seemed that we were together with them in the same room, the were up until 3 am, we called reception about this issue and they didn’t do anything about it. And the perfect closure was at 6 am when water started liking from the cealing directly on the middle of our bed.
At the next morning we tried to reach the Manager via WhatsApp and at the reception and the only answer that we got was that they were sorry about our experience, and that’s was all.

The worst experience ever!! Don’t stay here!

This is an amazing place in the middle of the mountains, with delicious food and many activities for all family members. It's a must stop before arriving to Cuenca. 

Room was wide and tidy, had a nice hot-tub jacuzzi, attention from the crew was top. Ideal for family or couples. Weather is cold.

Top place in the middle of a national park!

The first time I went to this place it was amazing to me and I am not exaggerating. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful, with huge mountains and trees around the area, and it was even better because of the large glass windows. Also the main part of this, of course, was the venue itself. It gave me superb vibes. Likewise,  I also received the best customer service and comfort. In short, I would definitely come back to Hosteria dos Chorreras.

Healing place

Very disappointed with our most recent stay!! There policies are ludicrous and don’t align at all with maintaining the relationship with clients. I stayed with my family over a three-day weekend. I booked two rooms, we ate at their restaurant for all meals and did quite of bit of shopping at their souvenir store. At the end of everything I’m checking out thinking it will be quick. My family (wife, two young kids and mother) are waiting in the car. While they’re checking me out the receptionist tells me that there is a towel missing from one of the rooms. I tell her that there is no reason for me to take a towel, but I still go back to my car, go through my things to double check and find nothing. After telling her this she tells me they will charge me $15 for the towel. What???!! After spending all the money as one of their customers they’re going to charge me for a towel. Btw, their towels are nothing special. Typical white towels you can find anywhere! I tell her no and she responds by telling me it’s the hotels policy!!! Are you serious??? After a client invests a large sum over a 3-day weekend you’re going to ruin the relationship over a $15 towel?  How does that make any sense? Why would I ever come back? You may have a location with amazing views and are able to post great photos on your social media, but your CSR is absolutely terrible!!! Next time, I’ll just do what the majority of people do - stop there take a few photos use your bathroom and that’s it!! I’ll take my money to a place that understands the value of long-term clients!! I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this with other families planning on visiting!

Amazing views, absolutely terrible customer service!

This place is so charming you cant wait to get out and explore it for yourself.  The construction reminds me of old Swiss Alps sky lodges and its nice to see real wood and stone used these days instead of veneers.  Helpful hints.  the down stairs rooms can get warm with the floor heating.  I found it a bit dry on the sinuses, so I ended up opening our door to cool the room off.  However there were not a lot of guests so it was still private and in the morning I woke up to the view of a deer eating grass just outside the room. It was like a old Disney movie come to life. They also have Lama on the property.  The rooms higher up do offer a better view of the mountains. Oh and I chose our room cause of the split level design, however; if your friends or kids move around at night that might not help you sleep well in the king bed below.  Still very fun and unique setting and will love to come back.

Wood and Water

This place is beautiful decorated, with horses on the background. The food was really good, specially the mote sucio, locro, hot sauce, Empanadas and fresh juices, however the service was not the best, too slow.
