Tony & Kim (kept having to check myself saying Tim & Kim): a wee pleasure tae hear some Scots twangs again, rarer than hens' canines in this part of the world.
Sister Hostel Caracol's in the heart of downtown, but the Trail suited me better for being closer to the bus terminal, which I used quite a lot: From Cali, halfday trips to Silvia Tuesday market, Coconuco hot springs, an overnight at San Agustin, onwards to Pasto.
Very welcoming - MariSol as well - and although it would have been nice to blether with fellow travellers, it was free & easy to pretty much have the run of the roost, all necessary facilities to hand, comfortable and safe (left my big pack for the night I spent in San Ag - no hassle). I could come & go as I pleased, and feel quite at home.
No supermercados to hand, but there are a few small shops within a couple of blocks. A couple of blocks more into town is Tequila's, a great value Tex-Mex for burrito & beer: a worthy combo. Lino & Carlos are cracking characters for a chat.
If spending a bit more time in La Ciudad Blanca - one of the loveliest in all the Americas - consider snailing it over to Caracol for a night or so. La Amistad will be extended, it has an excellent coffee shop, and you're central to all that's colonial & local (tons of students too).  

The Trail Leads Here

We stayed two nights in this excellent hostel, in a private room with bathroom. The room was great, spacious and well equipped, even having two bedside lights! Also warm shower, freshly prepared breakfasts, and really helpful staff. Great location, 10 minutes walk from bus station and very close to the sights and shops and restaurants of Popayan. Highly recommended.

Excellent friendly hostel, well located

I've stayed at this hostel a few times over the years, It was the only Hostel in town when I first arrived many years ago. It's incredible that it still seems so new and fresh. Many older hostels become a bit scruffy and tired, not here, it's bright and clean, super clean. Information posted on walls with maps and local tours available.
Relaxed common areas, Comfy clean rooms, shutters on windows to help keep any street noise to a minimum. 
Kim and Consuelo are kind and helpful and go out there way to make your stay one to remember -  and revisit, if you can.

Hosteltrail Popayan

Perfect place to stay in Popayan. The owners are really cool and they know a lot about the city and tours to do around! The hostel is super clean and well maintened, you can check the place in 360 on their web which I found really usefull to get an idea of how the hostel and the rooms are before going!

PROS
*Convenient location only a short walk away from the main park.
*Dorm was somewhat spacious.
*Some lockers had two-prong plugs in them.

CONS
*Not every bed has its own plug.
*Lockers were downstairs rather than in the room.

Good location

Stayed at this hostel as part of an organised group trip. Whilst this hostel is very well located it is basic at best. Almost all the rooms share three common toilet/shower facilties. For the most part you were lucky to get a luke warm shower at best. In our room there appeared to be rising damp in one wall which resulted in the wall paint being permanently wet. My pack, now covered with paint marks, is testament to this problem.
One big positive, however, is the owners. They are very friendly and provided great advice on restaurants and local attractions. The hostel also does a good breakfast and a pretty good coffee.

Window face with the road ,cos no air conditioning, if u open window so noisy & dusty, if close window very hot , whatever day or night time also have car motorbike pass though very hard to sleep ! !!
