First of all, this is a much better hotel than the Artwell Hotel in Rizhao. The beds are much more comfortable so they allow for a relatively good sleep. However, the pillows aren't great - they are kind of flimsy.

The hotel itself is kind of outdated. It's probably 30 years old. It is is in pretty good shape all things considered. The room was clean as was the bathroom. It's just that everything needs to be updated. 

The service at the front desk is inspiring. There are 4 or 5 pretty young ladies waiting to take care of you. No, I don't mean that! They are just very attentive and helpful. I must say, Chinese service is exceptional. This includes the restaurant as well. Professional and friendly.

The negative with the stay includes pretty thin walls. I could here my mate snoring next door to me last night. And as i said, the pillows weren't very good. And the TV only gets 1 English speaking channel and it only shows the news. Western hotels in China will have multiple English tv channels which is appreciated.

Another positive is the location. The hotel is located right on the water at the harbour. Go for a nice walk and look at the old fishing boats. They are quite something!

The next time I am in Rizhao I will stay here.

Decent hotel in Rizhao

Spend few days in this hotel while on business trip in April 2107. Third Chinese hotel in 1 week!  First impression is for far more luxury place, but looking into details ... they call for renovation. Plenty damages to the furniture (minor, but visible and boring) though everything working. The worn out signs are all around. 
Room was big with comfortable desk for laptop. Work light on desk, big window.
Nice view to the marina. 

It was a bit frustrating to realize that all glasses and plates in the restaurant are actually PLASTIC! No ANY kind of coffee in the restaurant. Coffee can however be taken afterwords from the bar in the lobby. 
Food at average level, with no much european options. 

All staff very polite and friendly and responce to any request at once.  

Minuses:
- WiFi free, however useless due to the slow speed, not mentioning the typical limitations in China.
- no matter how you adjust the A/C, never moved above 19,5 degrees. Must say at the very moment I lodged my complain,  a portable A/C was delivered to the room.

Average but decent place

Blue Horizon (or Lan Hai Hotel) is a high-rise two towers hotel located directly on the sea front. The rooms are what may be expected of a hotel with this rating. Breakfast is abundant and there are many banquet rooms. And that's it. Not a really functioning bar and both LAN and WiFi offer a very poor and slow connection, not as may be expected of such a hotel. So all in all a nicely located place for sleep and breakfast and that's it. No pool, sauna, spa or anything of the kind.

Great seaside location

The room has big and very nice, but every single corner of the building was freezing cold. Even with the AC on I was never really warm. 

The breakfast restaurant was decent also for lunch.

The staff was very friendly, but the english level at this hotel was horrible. I had to get help from my chinese coworker to organize everything. 

The staff was helpfull when I needed to have a package sent from Shanghai to the help.

Average for the price

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Situated right in front of the marina, it's a wonderful property to stay. Request a higher room to get a better view. 

The lobby is quite impressive and welcoming. The staff quite helpful to foreigners, though in limited capacity due to language barrier. 

Rooms are quite good with internet connection and other amenities.

The guy in the bar was very helping and indulging in arranging drinks and snacks on request, as we had arrived late travelling from Qingdao. 

Overall a good place to stay for both business and leisure travelers.
