The rooms were updated and there was hot water.  It was within walking distance of sites  but you would need your own transportation of other sites.  It was located in the center of town and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.  Breakfasts were included and was part of a tour.

Updated hotel good location

The hotel location couldn’t be better  - just a one minute walk to the main square.  Be prepared to deal with a few inconveniences though: 

the bathroom was apparently added after the room was finished as it has a much different style.  Due to limited space, the shower and toilet are very close together and when you shower (nice rain shower here), the entire floor, as well a the commode get wet.

breakfast is basic and rather uninspired.  Either bring your own snacks or go out.  The McDonalds on the main square open as at 7am.  Turn right as you exit the hotel and walk straight across the square

have someone check that the remote on the heating/cooling system is in the right mode and also how to turn the TV on/off.  There is one English  language news station available.

4.  they do not provide any bottles of water in the room.

Just put up with these minor inconveniences for the excellent location.

I had room A208 which faced an alleyway.    A friend had B108 which faced the courtyard and that was a  much better view. B108 also had a computer in the room,but she did not try it.

Understand that much of  Lijiang’s old town has been rebuilt since their devastating earthquake.  Try to find the two older, narrow lanes that remain in much of their original condition.   It s worth the effort.

Location couldn't be better

This review is by an US business traveler with experience in more than 20 countries, 6 trips to China, and 4 to Lijiang. This hotel is retched. There are no common areas for gathering, the breakfast area is drab at best, and my room is one of the worst I've had in China. No heating unit, no mirror in the bathroom, filthy carpet, the toilet leaks on to the floor compounding the mildew already there, there is no shower curtain or any other divider, there is no bottled water, half the light bulbs in the room are burned out, exposed wires are hanging from the bathroom wall, the list goes on.  This would rate a sad 3 star in my book.  The location is good, but otherwise spend money on someplace cleaner, more upscale, and definitely more professional.  Lijiang is loaded with hotels of all sorts and no one should have to suffer this dump.
