Lincang Premier Hotel - Lhasa

After reading the review about the history of this hotel, I made a request with my agency to stay here. I didnt want to stay in any other normal boring 3/4 star hotels, Didnt consider the Sheraton, those 5 star hotels etc as I reckon this is Tibet, I wanted something that is authetic yet has the basic neccesities. Lin tsang didnt disappoint! First, I was very impressed that they were using Loccitane shampoo, soaps etc, the bed was comfortable and the place was small but absolutely lovely! Location is in the old town, you might have to walk for a while, but precisely that is because it is in the old town, I think one should enjoy visting the old town. I know there are reviews that there is no elevator and would be difficult for pple with luggages, we travelled light and the staff were friendly and helped with the luggages so it was not a problem. Wifi is strong in the lobby but can be weak at times in the room, but hey you are in Lhasa! To make do without the WIFI and enjoy being at the rooftop of the world! Breakfast was alright, we did try the Yak butter milk, but maybe because it was too early, the staff were surprised and the coffee machine were not working. The breakfast area being on ground floor was quite dim, I personally prefered the breakfast at Shambalah palace, but hey nothing is perfect! And since it was just breakfast, I didnt let it damper my mood! Food was basic toast with jam, one really shouldnt be expecting a full set of western breakfast given that you are in Tibet. So it is decent. In short, it was a good stay and I am glad I choose it, but what surprised me was when leaving, they gave us a souvenier, a little token and a blessed scarf! It may be pricey, but I would say its about 800 rmb and for this price, I will rather stay at Lingtsang than at the sheraton etc.
