The hotel has walking distance to the lake, many restaurants and shopping and the room was clean. The receptionist said that they don’t take foreign people but made an exception for us as we had already paid online which was really appreciated!

Great location

Located incredibly close to the lake (a walking distance of less than 15 minutes), this Hanting Express provides very cheap (although quite smaller than usual for this chain) rooms. Basic amenities, television, and water heater are provided. Service is good and prompt. English skills are basic. The hotel is located in a refurbished old complex of apartments, which provides the premises with an interesting and relaxing ambiance, with ample courtyards within the complex. Two floors and no lift when I visited. Ample number of restaurants, both cheap and expensive, many very local establishments surround the hotel's outer premises. Recommended.

Great budget choice in a great City

If your budget around USD 30-50 just with a simple room. It can be one of your choice if you take its excellent location into your consideration. It costs 5 mins to West Lake and 8 mins to Metro Station (Longxiang Station) and it opposites to Province Chines Medicine Hospital, The washroom is compact and very simple and they provides internet. This hotel is built based on a old inn and its architectural structure.

Budget Hotel

I arrived at the hotel in the middle of the night.  The taxi driver wasn't sure of the exact location.  In hindsight, I would now know to tell the taxi driver to take me to the corner of Pinghai Road (平海路) and WuShan Road (吴山路).  Our taxi driver was driving along Pinghai Road and thankfully we saw the hotel signs pointing us in the right direction.  

The lobby and courtyard resembled ancient Chinese buildings.  Very cool.  The room itself was a bit lower in standard than the 7 Days Inn I had stayed in all across China.  The room was heated, but the next day, we went back to the hotel in the middle of the afternoon to drop off some things and couldn't get the heat working.  We found out they only turn on the heat at night and turn it off around 8am in the mornings.  

The hotel gave a free bottle of water each day and there was also free water in the lobby. 

Located about a 15-20 minute walk from the lake.  Lots of shopping and restaurants around as well.  

Overall, this is a good choice for the price, but not quite as clean as a normal 7 Days Inn.

Good location, average amenities

Simple, basic, old chinese style hotel.  Apparently many poets and writers in the past had stayed there in the past and you can see some pictures and writings about them throughout the hotel and some indicating which writer had stayed in the room before. 
Location is walking distance to the West Lake. But there is construction going on buildling the subway so traffic is a bit chaotic. 
Checked in late and left early in the morning so was value for money as the room was warm, clean and comfy with hot showers (very important in winter!) and internet. Nothing fancy but comfortable.
