i stayed at this hostel for 3 nights and it was very good.
the beds are comfortable, you get your own fan, the food is good and the same price as all other western restaurants, the owner is a very nice and helpful man (he even drove me to a laundry place his scooter without asking) and is always down to help. i really enjoyed the tours to a waterfall, koh kong island and the mangrove forests that he offered.
only the bathrooms could be cleaner.
all in all i couldn't have wished for more, but if you are the type of person that likes some comfort/luxury and privacy i wouldn't suggest this guesthouse.

perfect for this town

When I revisited I remembered.
The owner was strutting around the cafe braying into a mobile phone.
I was going to order, but he stood over the top of me loudly talking into his mobile phone.
The man has no manners and does not know it, which is what I forgot  last time.
By way the one draft beer I had had a distinct unpleasant tang to it.

I stopped going and forgot why.

The service is good, but that aside the place is not. The room was moldy and coated in cob webs and was somehow always insanely hot even when we weren't there. The food at the restaurant was fairly priced and good though. You have no choice but sleep with the window open due to the heat and every morning at 6am they roll the gates back in past all the main floor windows. It's impossible not to be awoken by it. Also one of the shared bathrooms was pretty gross looking and the walls were slotted so that if an individual on the surrounding walkways outside the bathroom leaned down he or she would be able to see directly into the showers which my girlfriend wasn't very comfortable with for obvious reasons. There is another more private bathroom which is much cleaner and personal. Location is good and moto rentals are good at 5$ a day, just don't expect to get a bike in great shape.

A generous 3 stars

An uninspiring plate of rough chunky chopped veggies and rice dumped on table. Served by disinterested staff more keen on sitting with friends and beer.  
Toasted doesn't necessarily mean toasted - pasty bread and cheese/ham filling is a toasted sandwich. 
Flicked thru tour brochure.  $30 for a trip to mangroves which you can visit (as it's only 9km) by bicycle which can be hired in town for $1.  Beach on Koh Kong easily accessible by bike too.  Suggest pack a picnic and get on bike rather than take a tour!

Uninspiring

I would have liked to review a breakfast.
I ordered it, they put out a place map, and an hour later I went to the kitchen to discovered they had forgotten all about the breakfast.
This is amazing considering I was the only customer in the place.
They did serve me with the tea at the start, and so I just paid for that.
I only went in there because I saw the owner was not there.
During the hour, he arrived, walked over to my table and read something on the wall above my head, displaying the same ignorance I objected to the last time I was in the place.

Unable to eat

We plan to stay here two nights and do a tour, a friend recommended the guesthouse and we got a room for 3 people for 12$. Room was nice but food is very expensive here. 

We wanted to go with Neptune Tours but we didn't give enough notice neither had much time to plan in advance so asked Ritthys. All we wanted was to hire a kayak for a few hours and go in the Tatai River. He offered us a tour in which we were pick up at 8am, driven to catch a boat to go up the river, kayaking, lunch, more kayaking and coming back. He adviced to dress with sandals and swim clothing. 

Our 'tour guides' was a guy on his early 30s and his bother that was just 18. The boat driver was a child. All fine until we did some kayaking and we stop by the river side and they told us to start walking. We went into the jungle. The path was not clear at all, loads of animals were nesting on the path. It was really jungle forest all around us and we were not prepared, wearing sandals and shorts... Despite of the older guide going on the front, he did not see a group of bees on our way. I got bitten and had a very severe reaction. The guides did not carry any medicine with them, just tiger balm. They neither knew how to react. If it weren't for my boyfriend and his friend that were shouting to everyone to hurry up back to the hospital, I'd be dead. 

I won't go into details of the trip by boat back to mainland in which I almost lost consciousness twice and my body was inflating like a ball
