Stayed there a couple of days, the pousada is nice and the staff is very friendly and helpfull.  A swimming pool is very welcome during the hot hours of the day.
Good location very easy to access and find

Nice little inn

I stayed here with a friend in July. It was perfect. Laid back, simple - but who needs more than this? The room was clean, the AC worked, the pool was a refreshing place to relax on a hot afternoon, and the breakfast was delicious. 
Great location too - right by the catamaran dock. It was easy to get cheap moto taxis out to the various beaches, which aren't super close to Soure. The restaurant on the opposite corner is delicious! Doesn't look like much, but it's great!

One tip: my friend thought the AC would make her cold, so we asked for a blanket. It carried the strong smell of moth balls. Avoid that. Change the AC instead. 

Simple, quiet, perfect 

Located close to where the boat from Belém arrives (you can walk, even with luggage). Installations are new and in good conditions. There is a nice pool to refresh in at the end of the day. Staff is friendly and can arrange transport to the beaches etc.

For international travellers the Ilha do Marajó is, quite frankly, somewhat off the beaten track. Soure is the major, some might say the single, town of note on this island; it is linked to Belem by a high speed water bus service. The crossing, once a day only, takes, including embarkation and disembarkation, approximately 3 hours. Daily life in Soure is restful as is, surprisingly, its climate. Soure has electricity, but no public transportation system, water buffaloes wander along its main avenue in search of fresh pasture, mobile ‘phones have difficulty connecting, children may travel to school by boat and plastic money is not readily accepted. This bucolic existence is perturbed yearly during the month of July, the traditional holiday month for this part of Brazil, and daily by the arrival and departure of the ferry to and from Belem. 
The Pousada Aruana is ideally situated within Soure, being not more than 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal, and, although being on a main street, enjoys a peaceful location. It has a small number of comfortable rooms, all of which are furnished to a high standard, a swimming pool and is capably managed by a husband and wife team. Travellers may freely use the laundry facilities, take pleasure in a good breakfast before setting out to explore the island and keep in touch with the local gossip. Accommodation charges at the Pousada Aruana are, bearing in mind its modern facilities and excellent position, eminently reasonable. Furthermore, less than 200 metres away the restaurant Patu-Anu offers tasty traditional home cooking, at realistic prices. 
For the traveller passing through Belem, with a couple of days to spare and in need of some relaxation, the Ilha do Marajó presents an attractive opportunity; there are, for example, water buffaloes for riding, white sandy beaches for bathing and abundant fresh fish to eat.
