Hostel Casa Blanca Tarija

A wonderful hostel set in a beautiful old building replete with a lovely relaxing courtyard. The room and facilities were spotless & the staff were friendly & obliging (they allowed me check in early after a long bus journey from Potosi). The location is great close to everythi6in the beautiful city of Tarija.

I run a motorcycle touring company, and this is about the best place in Bolivia for customer service I've come across. The owner, Ana, was exceptionally helpful and friendly. She arranged a wine tour for all our clients, was always super attentive and helpful in person and via WhatsApp, and all the other staff were very helpful as well. The place itself is full of character and well maintained, and very close to good restaurants and the city centre. There was a pretty solid breakfast available for BS15 per person, as well as a heater running throughout the day and night (we did the tour during Bolivian winter, so definitely important). All in all, well worth a stay, especially at its price point!

The staff and owner made sure all my needs were being met and exceeded all my expectations.I could not have had a more pleasurable experience. I am 64 and highly recommend this hostal for those of any age. 

We loved this hostel. very chilled atmosphere, good showers, comfortable beds and overall a very clean hostel. The staff are super friendly and attentive, especially Sebastian and Juan who made sure we were happy throughout our stay! :)

I had a great time in the Casa Blanca, from the little patio with view over the stars in the night, laying on the hammacs, to the amazing asado they organised, this is the place in Tarija to get to know other travelers (most of the working people are volunteers travelling).

A big thank you to everyone ! We were supposed to stay a week and we stayed almost two. The owners and the staff have been brilliant. The location is ideal, the bed are confortable, there is s great commun space, a kitchen good enough to cook, a BBQ, a good speed wifi and some great bathroom with hot water. What else for the price? 

Very comfortable, open and inviting environment to either socialize or keep it to yourself and just enjoy the relaxing vibes. Beds were comfortable and the hostel clean. 

We stayed longer than planned as the friendly staff made us feel like home.

I was living in La Paz, Bolivia, volunteering for a Canadian non-profit organisation.  I needed a break from the cold weather in La Paz and decided to spend a week in warm and sunny Tarija, the most southerly point in Bolivia.  I heard good things about the wineries in this region and wanted to stay in a central location.  Casa Blanca Hostel fit the bill, or so I though.

This hostel has 5 rooms, 3 bathrooms (2 in the courtyard and 1 through the kitchen), and an open courtyard area with hammocks that leads to a spacious indoor dining/living area with lockers for personal items.  

I reserved my room online with booking.com and requested a double room for myself.  Instead I got a room with a single bed and 1 bunk bed.  Good thing I had the room to myself.  The room also came with lots of blankets for the cold nights.  The room had high ceilings, but were in need of repair.  The room was very rundown.

What is not mentioned when you book with this hostel is that breakfast is extra.  For Bs 15 breakfast consisted of fruit, puffed wheat w/yogurt, bread with butter and jam and eggs you  had to cook yourself.  Breakfast was ok.  Expected more since I was paying for it.

I liked the fact that this hotel was in a great location and everything is in walking distance (banks, restaurants, parks, etc.)

My hostel booked my wine tour for me through Viva Tours, the main wine tour in town, but not the only one.  They also provide bikes to rent and offer free walking tours of the city, which is so pretty.

Would I stay again? Unsure.
