Breakfast was typical and most adequate. My room was spacious enough and as expected. Enough that 2 motorcyclists had room to move around and hang wet gear out of the way. although the bar closed early and the hotel did not offer an evening meal the situation was such that these things were easily provided for by the town centre. I suspect that with more customers staying at once this may differ. It was good to be in the town centre. The room was clean and tidy on our arrival.
We were able to park our bikes on the frontage of the hotel without issue although much more than 4 or 5 bikes would be a squeeze. The staff and hotelier were pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. We were most happy with our choice of hotel.

Disliked · Nothing really. The stairs were narrow, but in a hotel of this type and age that was not a surprise or a real discomfort.
The décor was older and a little tired but adequate and not beaten up. As I said nothing untoward comes to mind.

Pleasant and all we needed.

Small room, but exactly the space we need. Clean room with a beautiful view on the main street of La Roche and a modern bathroom.

The host is super friendly and the breakfast is just good. If your not looking for something super fancy, but just a spot you feel at home. This is the place to be!



Nice cozy place

So catching up with the reviews - visited this hotel back in 2014 and enjoyed the stay, it was clean and had a bunk bed in our room. Breakfast was good and the location superb.

Very nice, cosy, clean hotel! Breakfast is good with fresh baked roles. The rooms are big enough and the bathrooms are very modern. A few seconds walk takes you to the river with lots of restaurants and bars. 

Excellent hotel!

Stayed here three times.  Very good small family hotel for one-to-five nights.  Parking: take advice from the manager as some places outside are free and some are not.  The town has good restaurants for all pockets and is lovely in the summer.  Good for walking all year round.

Very good for a short stay.

A group of eleven Harley Davidson motorcyclists stayed at this Hotel, we were in town for a Rally.  We had great correspondence with the Hotel prior to our arrival with all our queries answered promptly.
The Hotel is located at the quieter end of town so was ideal for our stay. La Roche is a fairly small but beautiful town.  For a small place there are a large variety of bars, restaurants and cafes so something for everyone.  The surrounding Ardenne Forest is stunningly beautiful.
The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms were fairly modern with a good shower, admittedly, I didn't go in all the rooms but no-one in our group had any issues with the rooms.  We had a great breakfast every morning, cereals, yoghurts, breads, cheeses, jams, fruit and eggs with plentiful juice and coffee/tea.  It was very good value for money.  We all paid cash and were given a small discount which was appreciated.
The owner and his family were very friendly and helpful.
We were able to park our bikes right out in front of the Hotel.

Great Little Value for Money Hotel

Based on our experience I'm not sure I would classify this as a hotel so much as an Airbnb type of stay, except more expensive and with fewer amenities generally. Needless to say I cannot speak for all of the available rooms - we booked late so it's safe to assume we didn't get the best one - but our experience was very much like spending a few days at grandma's and sleeping in her spare bedroom in the attic, only this bedroom happens to have its own bathroom. Both are very small/narrow though, as is the staircase leading up to it, which makes one wonder how you'd get out in case of an emergency. Let's just say my wife who is slightly claustrophobic was very happy we only spent two nights here. 

Luckily breakfast was included although it was rather basic. Basically the only thing that was determinedly positive was the staff, which on the few occasions we had any interaction such as at breakfast was most friendly and attentive. I'm somewhat sad to leave them this poor rating for that reason but hey, you've gotta be honest. 

One last remark regarding two things listed as free, being WiFi and parking. The signal was pretty iffy up in our room so we did not get much enjoyment out of that. As far as parking, be aware that the hotel does NOT have its own parking lot/spaces so while parking is free in parts of La Roche you do need to first actually find your own parking space. We ended up parking about a five minute walk away on a public parking lot across the river where we were not charged.

Unimpressed

Not the best experience of a weekend away. Not very friendly staff. Had a room for three and bed was on the floor and when my son turned on his side he could feel the floor. Beds are very narrow. No one in reception when we arrived no remote for the TV as the owner complained people took them away. Rooms very basic but clean. In the evening at 10 we asked if we could sit in the bar and play a game we were informed no- surprisingly as there was nobody sitting there. Breakfast was good and the lady was the only friendly staff. Needs to be renovated great if you like 1970"s decour. Enjoy.
