Firstly it should be stated that this is NOT a hotel, it is no more than an overnight pit stop for HGV drivers, and more importantly residential accommodation of Polish builders, who were threatening, abusive, and generally intoxicated in the evenings, shouting and yelling out from the windows to adjoining buildings where their colleagues resided, it would appear these individuals have “lived” here for some time and “the so-called manager” (Johnny) is scared stiff to give any reprimand in fear of losing their income. In the mornings 5.30 am there would be shouting and revving up car engines, car doors slamming notwithstanding doing wheel spins outside our door on the ash type driveway, it was our belief it was all done intentionally, Johnny was never around to inform him of the situation. In the evening’s they raced into the parking area doing handbrake turns, along with a lot of rowdyism we had to endure this for 7 days.
All of this apart, there is no resemblance to being a hotel, there is no Reception area, there is no Bar, there is no restaurant, there is no lounge, and no AMBIANCE in total.
Our room was approximately 12ft x 12ft of which 6ftx6ft was sectioned off for the bathroom, the curtains had not been washed for decades, under the beds was filthy, the towels were well worn cheap thin cotton, and not always changed daily  , the room was not cleaned daily ;the shower was broken and had to be repaired, there was no coffee making facilities (fortunately we took our own) the television was an outdated tube type.
We are totally amazed that this establishment is listed and promoted by Booking .com 
I, unfortunately, did not check The Asian Empire out on Trip Advisor, if I had of done so going by the few comments made, I certainly would not have considered the place.

Take heed and forget

‘Economical but risky (depending on the neighbours...): not recommended for longer stays!‘
- The bathroom could be cleaner: it was okay, but there were a few squashed beetles (or other insects) near the ceiling and also a few dark or black dots near the window that looked like mold. But one couldn't be sure without detailed analysis - they had better be removed though. 
- The walls are extremely thin: every sound from adjacent rooms can be heard! We were unlucky enough to have a French couple that was first fighting and then doing something else (it wasn't really clear what exactly...), but not sleeping even though it was 1 o'clock in the morning. She was constantly blowing her nose, which sounded like a trumpeting elephant, and he must have been smoking according to his coughing and the smell in the morning.

+ Reception was friendly and very efficient! We almost couldn't keep up with the pace up the stairs...
+Free parking and well accessible from the main road.
+ Good WiFi
+ Bed and bathroom okay.
+ Checkout was really easy: we had to let ourselves out through the backdoor and leave the keys in the room: voilà!

Practical and Efficient 

We stopped off whilst cycling in the area and what a fun place this is.  Arrived with bikes, which were parked up in the dining room as restaurant not open.  Room vast and bathroom adequate.  Comfortable beds but breakfast basic but adequate.  We were the only guests, and the place is rather scruffy, particularly outside, which does not give a very good first impression.

we only had lunch here, we didn't sleep here.

4 euro for a meal!!!

At short notice and during a major trade show we needed accommodation near Kortrijk. This was the best we could find and for one night it would have been fine; for two it was stretching our tolerance a little. It appears to be run almost entirely by one (very nice) Chinese guy - he runs reception, the bar and both serves and appears to cook the food (largely Chinese). As I say, adequate for one night but not for much longer. Paper thin walls and some loud East European guests didn't make for a restful night.
