Het Zoete Water

We were treated like royalty at this wonderful boutique hotel in Hamme where we stayed for two nights whilst attending a wedding! It is owner operated, moderately-priced, and nothing was too much to request of An, who brought a personal touch to everything, and greeted us warmly when we arrived. The whole property was spotlessly clean, and the decor of the public areas was modern and tasteful without being "cold". We stayed in the one suite that the hotel offers, and it was huge, with a bathroom that had a double sink unit , a bathtub and a separate walk-in shower. We really appreciated the fact that there was hot water at all times because , even though it was June, the weather was cool and changeable . . . and we are from California, so we felt chilly on arrival. However, when there was a brief period of sunshine, there was a cute balcony, which was big enough to accommodate two seats and a small table. Another feature we remarked upon that was refreshing in these days when even the luxury hotels where we have stayed recently are stingy with the toiletries and towels provided, there was an abundance of both at Het Zoete Water! The suite had a small refrigerator and a safe, and although there was no in-room coffeemaker, restaurant- quality coffee and tea making facilities were available in two areas of the hotel on a 24 hour basis to dispense free hot beverages. The breakfast buffet had a good choice of cold cuts , cheeses, fruit, yogurts and cereals, and, although that was enough for us, An offered to make us eggs if we had had wanted a hot meal! We shall definitely stay there again if we visit our friends in Hamme at some future date!
