OK: If you like the numbing, uniform environment of chain hotels go and look elsewhere. And if you're heading for downtown Vienna the transport to get there is probably easier if you find a place in Budapest. But if you want a stay in a characterful place in beautiful surroundings with a friendly staff, this place is for you. They organise live music and other occasional events. They have regional products e.g. traditional juices like elderberry, a whole range of home made jams at breakfast and schnaps made from pine cones in the bar. There is a resident dog (Shiva) in the cafe (all cafes should have a dog) and there are wooded walks with views in all directions. The decor is traditional and genuine. Genuine. The bar and cafe, often full of locals, is also a great amenity if you're out in the Vienna Woods and need some sustenance. We were there in sub-zero temperatures in January and the heating struggled; the rooms have not been constantly renovated; but if you can deal with that I highly recommend this place to you.

Cold Hands Warm Heart

It's a terrible experience, it's not just the weather cold also the staff.
We arrived late night, it was cold and no heating on. I spoke to the reception and complained about it, she told me she would check it for me, then nothing. I couldn't stay in the room, it was even warmer outside. I asked the reception again, she said she had turned the heating on before we arrived which it was a lie.

We booked it at last minute.  Arrived very late. Staff prepared our room in no time.  Stayed in the main building.
Joseph and Anglene were very accomodating and nice.
Hotel has historic background.  In the morning, enjoyed the view. Walked little bit on the trail. 
Room was spacious with lot of storage space.  Nice bedding. Big bathroom and toilet. Classy fixtures.  I like green color and matching tiles.
Only recommendation to fix the shower curtain, bathroom gets messy after taking shower.  Though it was perfectly clean and dry on our return.
Internet access was only in the lobby.
Location is far away from the City.

Nice location but away from City Center, friendly staff

We stayed here with our Boys Choir from Portsmouth UK and stayed for 12 nights!
The staff were extremely friendly - this is a real family run hotel. The rooms were always clean and the bar and meals were excellent.  The setting for the hotel is breath taking. I stayed here in 2005 and so returning in 2014 I wondered if it would be as good.  It was .. and I will certainly take my group to stay again in the future.
This place is perfect for groups as you will need a coach to get into Vienna.  Public transport is possible but a coach or car would be better.
Take your group here - its absolutely perfect. But please respect the lovely family and only take school or childrens groups if they can behave properly - like our boys did!

Superb friendly hotel

The title is not just a joke, we were there with a group from our uni, from 2013. nov 29. - dec. 01.. The breakfast was good, but we missed the vegetables, the rooms were clean, the bathrooms too. But the cold... When we got into our rooms, we felt as we were outside: not more than 15 celsius, next day it was better, but still not that warm, what is enough. Fortunatelly, in the furniture we found some extra plaid.
