Mariel B&B

I have to say that when I booked I thought it was a hotel. But Just to make it clear it is not a hotel. It is an apartment with Mariel being the gracious host who is simply fantastic. She knows a bit of Portuguese as well as a bit of English. So be prepared for a bit of a stumbling block or three when in a conversation. Her apartment is very welcoming and the heater warms up the place in winter after coming in from the bitterly cold Buenos Aires winter. The sitting room is very comfortable and homely and very relaxing. The dining area is rather nice and open but the table is a bit on the unstable side so a word of caution there. The bathroom is small but the water is fantastic and warms up straight away with adequate lighting for shaving and using the basin. The bathroom is a bath tub/shower so just use caution when exiting the tub! The kitchen is small but cosy and does the job just fine. Breakfast is included (on my booking) and was made by Mariel and was simply delicious and fantastic. The kitchen has a washing machine and Mariel was very kind to wash my clothes instead of myself doing it. I dont mind doing it myself but she insisted and after-all it is her apartment. My bed was very comfortable and warm with the additional blankets, and the pillows were not too soft which was nice. The only problem with the room was the cupboard doors were a bit unstable and came loose and I had to do a makeshift repair. Also in the main room the door does not close properly. Meaning that the door latch does not 'click' into the frame casing for the latch. However the door does not swing open or move so that was no issue for me. The apartment is in a great location in the city which has a lot of shops, cafes, bars and small eateries as well as transportation near by. This is a great place to stay and feel welcomed by a sweet old lady. Thank you Mariel for having me in your home.
