I spent three nights at this hotel and it was fabulous.  The room was huge, super clean, very cool, and very quiet.  At just $12 a night this place is a bargain.  I was amazed and how spotless every corner of this place was, the decor is all in light colours with tiled floors and white walls, and its sparkled which is not the norm in cheaper hotels in Vietnam.  The staff were lovely and very helpful and kind.  There is no lift which might be an issue for some, but the sweeping staircase is quite elegant and gives an old world feel to the place.  It is the quietest place I've stayed in Vietnam while still having a huge window and a wonderful view of jungle Hue style complete with banana trees.  It takes an extra 10 minutes to walk to the heart of Hue but its worth it.

A little Further to walk but worth it

Only 3 years old when we visited.  A short walk across bridge to town and great restaurants. Spotlessly clean and so cheap $15US a night for two including breakfast.  Huge bed and a MASSIVE bathroom.  We are staying there again this year and it is still $15.00 US a night for a double room.

EXCELLENT VALUE

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel.  It is a little bit outside the centre; this was nice because it was a lot quiter and really it was not too far to walk.  The hotel is impeccably clean, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable; we had a balcony and large bathroom.  The breakfast was a little bit disorganized with the staff not speaking English, but it was certainly plentiful.  This was real value for money!

Thai Y Hotel was one of the best

This hotel is across the bridge from the main town. The lobby and rooms are nice although the first room I was shown had a terrible musty smell. The day staff are excellent but the night staff should keep the noise down. Front desk did not know about my reservation and tried to charge me almost double when I checked out after five days. No food available, even though they offer a two dollar breakfast online. At least half a mile from nearest good food.

Nice room but ....

This is a very simple hotel, a little off but not far from the main tourist trail. It was clean and had everything we needed, however there was little English spoken. This didn't detract from the proprietor's wish to make us welcome and in fact when we discovered our passports had not been returned to us from the previous hotel, she organised to have them put on the bus, collected them from the bus station and returned them to us - what a star! If you want cheap accommodation and you don't mind being about 20 minutes walk from the citadel, this could be for you. Bars, tourist hotels and restaurants are about 5 - 10 minutes walk away.
