Don’t stay here, unless it is your only option. The room should have come with earplugs. The room was appointed with cheap appliances & a heating unit that made noise all night & kept waking us up. Between the heater & fridge, I don’t know which was noisier. I’m only giving it 2 stars because it was clean & centrally located in town, otherwise it was a 1 star experience. However, they’ll give you a cute coffee cup with their website on it to remember your sleepless & restless night in Cannon Beach.

Loud appliances, sleepless night.

We recently spent 2 nights at Cannon Beach at the Sand Castle Inn, Starfish Suite.  It was a one bedroom unit that easily accommodated three of us.There are 2 queen beds here - one in the bedroom and the second in the main room, along with sofa, large screen television, table and chairs and a small well-stocked kitchen. There is also a full bath. The unit was very clean and we slept well.  The location is wonderful - just a block or so to the beach and a short walk into downtown. The management company, Cannon Beach Vacation Rentals, was extremely cordial and their customer service was top-notch. We have found our new "home at the beach"!

Great Location, Excellent Accommodation & Reasonable Rate

Having been to CB two times previously, I had a certain expectation with how these places are set up/run. Was told when making reservations that 'Cottage' and 'Lighthouse' would accomodate 8 people for a family trip and the answer is yes but not very comfortably. No mention until we contacted them that we would need to use an air mattress. Pictures conveniently leave out eye sores (enormous jacuzzis and DIY stone work around them) and things that should be fixed (ceiling in 'Cottage' appears to be sinking in spots). Emails promised two charcoal grills since we were cooking for large group but when we found one (pretty much smallest grill you can buy). We called to ask where the other grill was and were told that was it and they couldn't do anything about it. Exterior outlet came out of wall when we tried unplugging a light. The porch on top of the 'Lighthouse' is slanted and does not look very safe. Comforter on upstairs bedding in 'Cottage' was discolored and looked very old. Yes, there is free Wifi on the property but were told via email to not contact them if there was an issue connecting so luckily it worked!

Look elsewhere

We stayed at the Sand Castle Inn two nights this past weekend and had a lovely stay. We had a second floor one-bedroom suite with a nice view of Haystack Rock (which is one of the largest monoliths, if not THE largest monolith on the west coast). This is NOT a room that is touted as a view room, and it is NOT on the beach but especially for the price, this is one great stay! 
Clean, amazingly central location....walk to the downtown in minutes....and just right for us--I recommend to everyone!

Great Pricing, Great Location, Great Stay~!

We've been to Cannon Beach many times before and this was my favorite hotel experience for four reasons:
1. HUGE one bedroom suite, which is rare for Cannon Beach. Usually, the spaces in CB are tiny, tiny, tiny. It felt luxurious to have something close to 700 sq feet. It was nice to not trip over my kids constantly.
2. Very close, walkable proximity to everything. We never got in the car, even for groceries. The glorious beach is one block away. 
3. Excellent price. Nothing comparable in this budget range. I've looked.
4. Very, very quiet.

This is not a luxury hotel, and it isn't pretending to be one. If you want that type of experience, go rent a beach front house for $3,000...if you can even book one. Many of these places are booked a year in advance.

Other pros:
-Very comfortable bed
-Windows on multiple sides so you get great cross-breeze straight off the ocean.
-Big bathroom with a full size tub
-Full kitchenette with an oven(!), stove, microwave, full size freezer and refrigerator, stocked dishes.

Cons:
-Peeling wallpaper in bathroom that looked a little moldy
-Yes, Cannon Beach is expensive. Get over it. It's worth it. The businesses have a very short window to earn their revenues for the year (June through September). Also, it is the drivable destination for busy Portlandians and Seattlites (i.e. people that work for a living). You have competition for the rooms, that's why they cost more.
-Crabby front desk ladies. OK, so Haystack Lodgings takes care of all the check-in and check-out for 6 or 7 properties. Their bedside manner stinks, but who cares - you only see them once. Again, you don't stay at the Sand Castle Inn to be waited on hand and foot. You go there for utility and a place to wipe the sand off your feet.

Bottom line:
You cannot beat the Sand Castle Inn for affordability per square foot in Cannon Beach. Period. I will continue to stay there on future CB trips.
