Last minute booking. Superb customer service, friendly, welcoming to both us and our dogs. Room immaculate, bed comfy and big enough for my tall husband. Breakfast fantastic. Nothing too much trouble. A great find. Beach dog friendly between September and May. Clean friendly town. Even the traffic warden was lovely!

A rare gem

Wonderful warm welcome from Liz. Beds comfy. Excellent breakfast. Plenty of recommendations of things to do and places for eating. A real home from home. Would definitely revisit this is just a wonderful place to visit and unwind.

Lovely welcome , and nice clean room. The breakfast was very good ,and an informal setting with guests all at one big table it certainly encouaraged conversation. The elderly lady keept us entertained through breakfast with her memories from the past,whilst her daughter prepared breakfast. Certainly would visit again ,worth the drive down from Scotland.

This OUR experience of our three night stay.
Liz was chatty, helpful. She even booked us into lovely places to eat at night. She informed us of bus times and where to catch them. Rooms were clean, comfy, breakfast was amazing, the choice spectacular and beautifully cooked and presented.
Thoroughly enjoyed being looked after and exploring Whitley Bay and surrounding areas. Hope to see you again!

Great find in Whitley Bay

We arrived (four friends) to be told we were too early (14.15) and should have arrived after 16.00.  We just wanted to leave our luggage, which we did.  Two of us chose the ground floor twin room and our other two friends went upstairs. That day all was OK.  However, next morning, our wet room bathroom had the most obnoxious smell and leaving the light with fan on, did nothing to dispel the smell.  The following morning we complained and Liz, the owner, came and said she couldn’t smell anything as she had no sense of smell and no-one else had complained previously.  She suggested we put a wet cloth over the drain cover and brought us a piece of old towel.  This did nothing to counteract the smell.  Before we left, I said that she really needed to get the smell sorted out, she contradicted herself by saying she’d had plumbers and drain cleaners in to sort it but no-one could solve the problem.  This has obviously been going on for some time.  It was dreadful.  Liz, who runs this establishment is ‘a blunt speaking Yorkshire woman’ she said.  
The rooms have velour hanging bedheads, velour covered bed bases, velour covered chairs and velour curtains.  For the three nights we were there she never changed the towels, bath mat or flannels, nor were biscuits and tea-bags replenished, we had to ask for them and for fresh milk.  The ground floor twin room looked out over the back garden where a black plastic bag was flapping in the wind caught up on some ironwork. 
I have to say breakfast was excellent each day.  Any cereal you wanted, a big bowl of fresh fruit, fresh pineapple, yoghurt, cooked English or kippers.  Liz wouldn’t do me just one scrambled egg but insisted I had two.  She told us off for not eating all the toast.  We are four 70+ ladies and I felt like a naughty schoolgirl.
She didn’t let looking after guests interfere with her social life, she left breakfast pots on the table til she returned from days out.  On our departure day she went out for the day, instructions were, leave your window open, prop back the door to air the room and push external door key through the letterbox.  
Our friends upstairs did not have any bathroom trouble so they would give this establishment more stars than I would.  Sorry Liz, but I could not recommend you to others.

Dreadful smell in bathroom spoilt our stay

Such a comfy and cosy place to stay, with the best full English breakfast! Perfect location right next to the beach. If I ever head this way again, I know where to stay for sure. Overall, the room was beautifully made up and very clean. Great location, and the breakfast was truly scrummy. The host and other guests were also delightful.

Hotel was lovely. Rooms nice and comfy with everything you need for a few days away. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Liz was also a great host and pointed us in the direction of a lovely Italian restaurant. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area

Lovely last minute break with my husband.
This gem of a small hotel is very comfortable and our room had a great view.
Owner Liz was so helpful  recommending somewhere to have a meal at night.
Breakfast was really good plenty of choice so you are not hungry sets you up for the day.
Would definitely recommend the Park Lodge Hotel.


Lovely overnight stay at this wee gem of a hotel

Stayed in this lovely hotel last Thursday. The highlights were a very comfortable room overlooking the park in a great location, a fantastic fried breakfast in the morning but most of all an enthusiastic welcome for our Maltese Terrier, Star, who had a great time playing with the other dogs.

Fab stay at this lovely  hotel  .Lovely  clean and  comfortable  room  fab breakfast, great location  and lovely  host. We will back its a great place  to stop when going  to the whitley  bay playhouse  as it's just  over the road .Close  to the beach and the shops
