Came for a carvery last week, the staff are so attentive, so polite and on their feet. 

Carvery was lovely and hot, the only reason for four stars is that the parsnips were raw and not cooked which was disappointing as I love honey roast parsnips but the deserts etc were lovely, great portion and well presented. Would come again.

Lovely carvery

Visited for Sunday lunch in what was our first visit. A dog friendly, friendly and welcoming establishment with a range of beverages to choose from.

Sunday meal is a carvery retailing at 13.95 per person which is about the norm, plenty of choice on offer with four meats and plenty of vegetables.

Meal was hot, tasty and really cannot go wrong if visiting the area. Although I would pre book as it can be busy as seemingly popular with tourists and locals.

Friendly sea view establishment

We have just had an excellent 4-day stay at the Royal Hotel & Carvery.
We phoned ahead to book 2 carvery meals as we travelled down on a Sunday and, having sampled the food we ate there every night as we enjoyed the quality and choice of the meals.
The room (no.6) had an excellent view over the bay and Downs and was immaculate.
We visited Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and Salcombe but loved to return to the peace and quiet of the hotel late afternoon.
Special thanks to Restaurant Manager  Andy, Chef Shaun for his delicious food and all the staff who were all friendly, courteous and helpful.
Hope to see you again soon.

Lovely Relaxing Stay 

We had booked lunch for 8 of us, the resteraunt was dead for a Saturday lunch time especially with the weather being so good, I ordered the carvery baguette meal which was average to say the least. The baguette was like a bake at home one you get in the supermarket, no butter and the meat that was inside wasn't accompanied with anything, was disappointed with this. Another from our partt had ordered sea bass with new potatoes and tomatoes, well to say that the sea bass was dry and over cooked was a understatement. The tomatoes were cremated and potatoes very dry. In fairness to the waitress's she refunded the sea bass meal, but we definitely won't be returning and going back to the babbacombe inn where the food is 100 times better. Real shame as it's got so much potential and the only place that does a carvery (you'd think they'd get it spot on) 

Average lunch

Hotel was good. They have a carvery on the go during the day but don't do breakfast. There is a cafe opposite that do breakfast from 8.30. The hotel have good sea views over Lyme Bay. Along the font of babbacombe there are lots of pubs/ restaurants  with entertainment. Babbacombe theatre opposite hotel.

With little notice we had the opportunity to take an unexpected holiday in early October.  This left little time to select a property and check out its accommodation etc.

We needn't, however, have worried with this hotel.  

Accommodation was in Room 6 - a really generous sized room with a King Size bed and all the usual facilities.  There was a great view through the two windows in the room .  The room was serviced daily and no corners were cut on this.

The hotel is a large property offering food and drink - large scale - to resident and non-resident guests.  No breakfast is provided - which our waistlines appreciated!! -  but each day two muffins, two cereal bars and two fruit drinks were provided.

The hotel lunch and evening menu was broad and very sensibly priced.  A carvery was also available at lunch times.  We had three evening meals at the hotel.

Definitely a property to return to if we are in Torbay again.

A PLEASANT SURPRISE!

We have literally just finished a very nice Carvery here at the Babbacombe Royal. 
The food offered was nice and fresh and plentiful. 
The service during this Covid pandemic has been excellent, and we look forward to coming back soon for another lovely meal.

Sunday Carvery 

Always a pleasure to visit. The food is amazing, excellent quality. Always piping hot and cooked fresh. The staff( especially the girl who waited on our table this evening) are very pleasant, polite, friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Already looking forward to returning 

Everything is perfect!!!

My wife and I went to The Babbacombe Royal Hotel & Carvery for lunch on Wednesday the 11th. We were shown to a table by the window which has a great view of the bay on a clear day. This day was a rainy day but as the rain cleared the bay came into view. Andy, our server, was very attentive taking our drinks order and when we were ready our food order. My wife ordered the baked salmon with dill and lemon butter new potatoes and salad which she enjoyed. I ordered the Royal Burger with a bucket of chips. I asked if the bacon could be made crispy and was told that he would pass the request on to the kitchen. Sure enough the burger arrived and the bacon was as I wanted. The burger was thick and juicy the chips were plentiful and crisp. Andy come to check if all was well which it was. We had not been here for some years and after our recent visit we will not leave it so long

Good food, good views

Our second visit for the Sunday lunch having enjoyed our first one so much.  There’s nothing fancy here, just good quality carvery food with fantastic views over the bay.  Service is good and attentive and the welcome warm.  Dog friendly too which is a bonus for us.
