Hosts were brilliant and location wonderful but the double room we stayed in could do with an upgrade,
The wet room was perfect but bedroom a strange mix of quaint cottage and boutique, zebra curtains and light switch, green leafs around top of walls and strange rug. The ceiling above bed had water stains from a previous leak, wardrobe had one handle missing and didnt match rest of furniture. None of the towels matched, toilet mat was dirty, something yukky was stuck to shower curtain and bed felt damp, hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast was lovely though. Bit expensive considering the above.

We cannot praise the welcome we received from Nick and Linda highly enough. Our trip was, sadly, to attend a family funeral. From the first night when they insisted on giving us a lift to the local pub (with Nick even bringing us back when we were ready) they could not have done more to make our stay special. We fell in love with their lovely dogs, the breakfasts were up there with the best we have ever had and we could have spent hours chatting with this lovely couple. On our second night following the funeral we just wanted to stay in and relax; Linda provided crockery for the food we had bought and wine glasses and the great visitor lounge meant we could watch TV, read and chat in peace at the end of a rather tiring day. We found a gem in this place and can't recommend it highly enough. We did not have our dog with us on this occasion but it would have been perfect for her too!!

Perfect hosts in a lovely setting

I stayed here with two other golfing friends at the end of May.Extremely good hospitality from Nick and Linda.Good accomodation with a great wet room.However the scottish breakfasts were remarkable, home made preserves, a different fruit each morning, plus a super breakfast menu ranging from full scottish to smoked salmon, excellent! My wife has alot to live up to! Close to a  holiday let that our freinds were in,also excellent, and owned by our hosts,  also a nearby pub,with really goog evening meals, ideal! Golf courses  within driving distance, so good location for all we wanted. Even the weather was exceptionally good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay,and would definately recommend.

Ideal b&b

Staying  at Woodend is  an experience to enjoy and remember, even if it is just for one night as ours was.  It is clear that Nick and Linda are in the b and b business because they really like hosting and getting to know their guests  They made every effort to ensure we felt welcome and comfortable, and then went the extra mile to help us get to know their part of the country, from providing a good recommendation for dinner at a nearby pub to encouraging us to try the wonderful new walking path along the river.,
 As well, they served a great breakfast, including homemade jams, and encouraged us to enjoy their beautiful garden, and get to know their well behaved dogs if we wished. Besides which, they are well-travelled and interesting people, and fun to spend time with.   Worth a stay if you are on the Robbie Burns trail or just looking for a good place to stay in a beautiful country setting.
