Booked a table a couple of weeks in advance and I think at the time I spoke with the leaseholder who was very pleasant. When we arrived the bar tender disappeared for several minutes to find our booking and pointed to a table saying “we could sit there”. We were then advised that the menu was being run down and there were only 3 main course dishes available one of which was steak. I would have expected to have been advised in advance if there was a limited menu but this was not the case. We left and returned to  Gunnerside where we had a lovely meal at the King’s Head. We’ve been visiting Swaledale for 13 years now and despite giving the King’s Arms a constant ‘another chance’ we’ve yet to enjoy a decent meal here.

Poor reception and poor menu choice

Super friendly, super dog friendly, welcoming place with good food, largely down to the excellent hospitality of the managers.
Unfortunately, it changed hands literally days after our stay, so things may have changed. 

Great place but has changed hands days after our stay

Stayed here for 4 nights which was thoroughly enjoyable. The food was delicious, we had dinner on each of the 4 nights and sampled a few of the dishes on the ample menu. Each was piping hot and good sized servings. There was an excellent desserts choice with good old favourites like spotted dick, bread and butter pudding, treacle sponge, sticky toffee pudding, all available with oodles of custard. Our room was a good size and comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The scenery in the area is breathtaking and Reeth is ideally situated if you are a walker.

Lovely old pub/hotel

We have just returned from one of our favourite places. The kings arms REETH. Gina and Phil have worked hard to create a friendly atmosphere and it shows  even  with there staff. All of the staff work hard and always have a pleasant greeting plus a smile.
It was my husband special birthday and they went out of their way to make it a occasion.
The food is always excellent and there's plenty of it( not piggly little bits in the centre of the plate). Phil's pies are worth a try. They try to cater for you, vegan, vegetarian or gluten free, just ask.
The bedrooms are clean and modern with fluffy towels provided along with tea ,coffee etc.
The Kings arms is very dog friendly,they even have their own menu,that's if they are still hungry after the biscuits and ham they get when arriving.
It's not to everyone taste but you can't find a more friendly pub, even strangers speak.

Called here for some lunch on our walking route. Great food, very friendly service and plenty of treats for the dogs.
Reeth is a magnificent and very picturesque village. We were able to sit outside in the sunshine to enjoy the views. Table service was prompt, warm and efficient. 
Highly recommended.

Good value, great service, amazing scenery.

Just spent an excellent weekend at this traditional Yorkshire pub with rooms.

 Simon was super helpful with everything and couldn’t have done more to ensure our stay was pleasant and comfortable. Georgina was also super helpful. Both really hardworking and a credit to the pub. 

I really recommend this place. The rooms and food were excellent too-big portions of hot well prepared pub fare, but the staff make the place extra special.

Excellent base for walking weekend

Great location, with loads of walks very close to Richmond and Leyburn

What a start of the new year visiting the kings arms, never fail us ever , Georgina & Phil always go above & beyond make it extra special for our stay, most kind thoughtful people we've came across, always go out there way make things right, make sure everyone is happy, including the dogs they get more spoilt than anyone, it's such a welcoming atmosphere soon as you walk through the door all staff so kind full of smiles & more than happy to help you, we always look forward to our stay, it is one our favourite places to visit. The dogs feel at home & satisfied too. Always a winner 🏆

Perfect stay at the kings arms on new year's Day.

We have stayed in Reeth for 5 nights and gone in the King's arms for 4 nights the staff were exellant and Jane the manager did her upmost to make you welcome will be back in November and will spend all of our nights in this pub

room, views, hospitality,food staff are all second to none.

We were lucky enough to find this place whilst doing coast to coast years ago and have been coming back ever since.

Can;t recommend enough.
