Lovely little pub. We found it on a walk and from the moment we walked in we were very welcomed. After having a not very nice experience in another local pub, which we were staying in this was very much needed.
I'm guessing it's the owners who served us but had a nice little chat with us and even every local that came in said hello.
Drinks are nice and very good selection of drinks.
Recommend a visit.

Traditional village pub

Excellent Friday afternoon stop at this get away location in western England. Friendly atmosphere and welcoming gathering place for locals and people passing thru. Mike is a great host !  I’d go back next time I’m in the area and have another round at this pub !

Great local pub

To start I had Salt & pepper calamari was perfectly cooked side salad and alioli  not rings obviously fresh lush....

Then the Sunday dinner arrives side veg and side cabbage, broccoli, carrots, steamed to perfection cauliflower cheese mmmm...  I had the beef large thick cut slice of perfectly medium rare beef perfect roast potatoes and huge Yorkshire pudding and gravy. STUFFED  £14 great staff 😋 

Get yourself there and try there food breakfast friday lunch and dinner is well portioned and very enjoyable  I'm there every Sunday 😀

Sunday Dinner

I was attending a 3 day summer riding camp at Boomerang and asked when I booked if I can park a 3.5 ton horse box which they said was fine in their carpark .  Arrived later in evening  and there was room for the vehicle and I was shown to my room by Sarah.  Lovely clean room with access direct to carpark.  All the facilities, clean, with walk in shower and very comfortable bed.  Continental breakfast supplied in the room with fridge including cereals and yogurt.  Small table and chairs to eat breakfast.  All suited  to my requirements as I was up early in the morning.  Only comment to make would be nicer to have slightly thicker toilet paper!!!!  Good value

Great B&B for those staying in the area

I had stayed at the Crown & Anchor a few years ago and had an excellent experience. Based on that enjoyable experience some months I again booked a three night stay at the Crown & Anchor. Unfortunately, between the time I booked my reservation and the date of arrival the ownership of the Crown & Anchor changed hands. The new ownership seems to be concentrated on the pub with the two rooms being an afterthought. For example, an excellent cooked breakfast was included by the former owner; however, when we arrived we were told by the new owner that a cooked breakfast was no longer included and instead breakfast consisted of dry cereal and packaged pastries of the sort you would find on a supermarket shelf were on a table in the room. In addition, the previous owner provided daily housekeeping service - now you must make your own bed and trash is not removed daily. Provided you dutifully follow the instruction on a small sign on the wall to toss towels you want changed into the shower, evidently your used towels will be changed; however, since I rolled my used, wet towels into a ball and placed them on the sink figuring that it was apparent that I wanted them changed, instead they were unballed and rehung on the towel rack where I discovered them still wet when I returned in the evening. At the time of settling my room charges I expressed my displeasure and that of my other two friends who had stayed in the second room to the owner, especially with regard to the lack of the expected cooked breakfast and the lack of housekeeping services saying that we expected that the amenities that came with the room at the time of booking would be honored regardless of a change of ownership. While the owner did make an accommodation on the room rate to reflect the lack of providing a cooked breakfast, the amount did not cover what we had asked for since we had to pay for a full breakfast every day at another pub in the village. I realize that pub accommodations in a small rural village are not going to compare to accommodations in a regular hotel; however there is no excuse for the lack of hospitality and attention to standard reasonable guest expectations that we found at the Crown & Anchor. Needless to say, I cannot recommend it.

Not What it Once Was

Excellent hosts, really comfortable bed and food is wonderful. Stay regularly, could not get in this week so had to stay elsewhere - missed my weekly retreat! Welcoming atmosphere in the bar from the local community - don’t miss our, book up!

True home from home

Excellent evening here the Halloween party was great my little boy loved it. The spooky room was so good lots of treats in there and the decorations were just brilliant. So much effort put in to it thank you so much.

The Crown is a typical village pub but somewhat lacking in atmosphere. If you're into real ale or cider this could be your place to visit. Rooms are reasonable for a pub and the food the typical pub standard food, burgers etc which is fine if you're not looking for a more fancy menu.
