918 reviewsThis is a review of my stay at this small hotel along with my friend David Lakin after attending the AMAZING “Confuzzled” Furry Convention in Birmingham on Tuesday afternoon, May 27th, 2025. We arrived from a packed Long Distance British Rail System Train to London Euston Station and after a fifteen min. walk in the rainy streets (and a dry off in St. Pancras Station) before reaching “Hotel Maridiana” four blocks away. It’s tucked on a street with other smaller hotels and I noticed most of these properties had “No Vacancy.” Ummm… David checked us in when we arrived and paid for our rooming in advance (a very nice gesture) as we were given Room 1 right next to the front desk area. We had heavy luggage (my fursuit) with us, so having a ground floor room was beneficial. The room was small, really small. It’s something my late Dad and I used to joke about when we stayed for one night in a hotel near Westminster in 2000 while on our first trip to London. “A Certified Crackerbox, my Dad said.. and you buy the Crackers!!” A quarter century later, it’s a box but at least this hotel was fully modern and very uptempo. I liked the wall pics of Tower Bridge and the bathroom with newer toilet and shower. The tea kettle added a nice touch, as David made cups for both of us. The location is obviously the big draw here, as two major London Underground Stations are within walking distance. You can go ANYWHERE in this magnificent city. We used Underground for our evening trip to Hyde Park and Hard Rock Cafe as well as our post HRC trip to Trafalgar Square and “Sherlock Holmes Pub” for drinks and a toast to my late Father, who loved coming here when we both visited London in 2000, 2001 and 2004. Getting back a bit toasted after the pub was ok, and we were able to bed down before midnight. Wednesday morning May 28th check out was a cinch, and off I went on The Underground to London Heathrow Airport for my return flight home to Los Angeles, as David headed off on British Rail back to Wales. Staff were friendly and facilities nicely kept. FIVE CLAWS UP!!!!! Thanks for reading my review of Hotel Meridiana in Central London. Bear Hugs - Joe G.
