My Husband & I stayed here mid July 24 for a 2 night stay and will NEVER return again. After travelling from Warwickshire to visit a sick relation, we arrived at approximately 7pm and were immed iately shown to our room which had a double and two single beds in. To say the room was "humble" would be an understatement, however, we accepted the fact that we were really only there to sleep. All we wanted to do was chill out and watch TV with a coffee. However, the TV did not work and after many attempts, I went downstairs to ask the barman to sort it. He hadn't a clue what he was doing, eventually stating he would go and ring the Owner. He returned to say the Owner MAY come that evening, if not, it would be addressed the next day !. Meanwhile, I decided we needed a strong coffee, only to find the kettle didn't work either. Once again, i went down and was informed he could bring a hot drink up to us, which I declined as wanted a kettle !. Eventually he barman, who clearly was not a people person, came back with a kettle from the kitchen and advised that the Owner was on his way. At some point, the Owner arrived with a small TV and soon got it up and running. He was apologetic, and to be fair, was a nice guy, and offered us a drink on the house, which we declined. The shared bathroom, consisted of both a shower, bath and WC in one room. It was absolutely rank in there, and I had to hold my breathe whilst having a wee. The decor was awful, mould and smelly , dirty, no paper towels and the bath and shower were dreadful in appearance. At one point during the evening, my Husband visited the Gents to find a couple with a young child in the bathroom. The Father of the kiddy was boiling a kettle outside the door as there was no hot water to freshen him up. Each time I visited the bathroom, I literally held my breath and was at the point of heaving on one occasion. My Husband & I decided we would rather be dirty than use either the bath or shower and even took our toothbrushes out with us rather than lean over the sink. In hindsight, I would rather have slept in a car and will NEVER return there again. It should be renamed the Hell Hole Arms !

Avoid Like The Plague !

The Holland Arms in Gaerwen Anglesey is very friendly and welcomes dogs. We had drinks, which they offer a wide selection and then we decided to stay for food. The food is great and very large portion sizes. Would recommend and will sure visit again.

Visited the bar only for a drink recently re- decorated to a good standard.
Reasonable array of beers available.
Found the bar the bar person aloof at the best of times no social interaction whatsoever, the other problem on a Friday night no Ice  cubes or Lemon available for drinks and not made available all evening no excuse as we arrived fairly early and it was fairly empty of customers.

Please please please ,listen to me ! Anybody has to do something about these cons ! Please remove this property out of market .Revine thier right to do tourism! So many bad reviews and no one doesn't do anything???? 
Hello; I tried to book via booking.con but before doing that I had chat with the owner ,who convinced me to book out of booking and offered me a good 30 Q discount for a night so 44 Q for an ensuite room with bug bathroom.Very nice room but freezing cold as last night was 4 degrees outside in Wales .I only paid 45 Q but still is a lot ! A glass of medium red wine is 5.95 Q .Ripp off .Anybody can do something or tell me where I can report them ??? 

Terrible cold 🥶

Absolutely diabolical.  Our 2 single rooms were not en suite which was not in the booking details. There were two grotty bathrooms along the corridor both with toilets, one with a bath one with a shower - we chose not to use either of the washing facilities but washed in our rooms which were freezing cold - it was 4 degrees outside but no heating on. No soap provided.  My friends room was damp, had no towels no wardrobe.  Mine was a little better but condensation pouring down the windows in the morning.  The meal the night before was ok however we ordered coffees which didn’t arrive so ordered again. The coffee cafetières arrived but no cups. We had to ask 3 times for cups - by the time they arrived the coffees were cold.  No-one around in the morning - we had to wander around trying various doors before we found one that lead to the car park. Will we be back? A resounding NO.

Avoid at all costs

We booked this last minute.  Everyone was very friendly and helpful.  The room was clean, spacious with a wonderfully comfortable bed.  An excellent start to our Snowdon adventure and Anglesey weekend getaway.

called today to try the advertised sunday lunch, it was very cheap and was a really nice meal with a very generous portion i could tell everything was fresh, the staff are friendly and will be calling again in the future, nice little place

great Sunday Lunch

Travelled with family, been awaiting the reopening of the quirky pub on the hill🥰 booked our table (pre booking was advised) and can say that the Sunday roast was amazing, the beef and the lamb was cooked to perfection, it melted in your mouth, the roasties were mouthwatering, the meal size was more then adequate, and price was cheapest in the area!
As we booked (big family) staff were ready to great us, and the young girl who waited on us, was very friendly and   Polite, and she even brought us complimentary mint sauce, (which I would of usually asked for) saved me on a request.
Beer garden to the rear is so peaceful, and the seating was comfy and new! 
Lovely atmosphere, great food, and can’t wait to go again for Sunday roast! 
See you all soon! 

Sunday roast was delicious !

After the refit this quirky hostelry is just that but not well supported by locals. It could be brought back to a lovely place to stay in these clean refreshed rooms. The outside is not inviting what a shame.
