The photos and info are ten years out of date.The garden is overgrown and inaccessible.The rooms need valeting unless like dead flies on the window sills.The breakfast was adequate but the crispy bacon couldn't be cut. Do the old man who runs this place a favour and go elsewhere. Beware. I cancelled our second visit in the time frame but was charged anywhere. Contacting the owner brought no response.

Avoid

I booked this place based on the great reviews it has received and the pictures, which altogether give an excellent impression. It looks really lovely on the website. 

My stay was quite the contrary for the following reasons: 
We were staying in a converted -I use the term loosely- barn which together with the numerous spiders, flies, woodworm and tin roof made me feel I was staying in a cattle shed. Please see my photos showing the in-room tea provisions we were greeted with which were disgusting, along with the sofa which was tattered and torn in several places, resembling a reject from the local dump (see pic). The rug was dirty, the tv was ancient and needed an accompanying telescope to see it, it was so small (about the size of an iPad screen) and, the final straw was there were reams of cats roaming about everywhere, despite it being a non-pet accommodation. 
I feel the strong cat presence should be clearly pointed out in the description for allergy sufferers. 

Filthy, inhospitable, not like any of the photos on the websites and therefore highly disappointing. 
How on earth this place has such lovely reviews is beyond me! I’ve had to check several times to make sure i’m talking about the same place!!! (I am)

How on earth has this place received 4 stars???

I had three wonderfully peaceful days over Christmas in a charming double room over the main house. Warm and cosy, the rustic timbered room was a chance to experience rural life from an almost forgotten age, but with all modern comforts. The lovely watercolours and sweet ornaments offered constant little discoveries as did the bookcase. The antique bath and shower was a treat, with instant hot water. And it was only the delicious breakfasts in the cider press room that were tempting enough to get me reluctantly out of my cosy bed. Wonderful juicy omelettes and fresh farmhouse bread for me! Altogether an idyllic break and I shall always remember the warmth of the kindly owners and the privilege of sharing their rural life for a magical break.

A great experience of cottage life!

If you ever stay in guest houses in the UK, this place has to be the best you can get. I urge anyone who can to stay a night at Lower Bache House and then have breakfast in the mill grinding room with authentic quern stone grinder. Wonderful, I will be returning again soon. Absolutely ideal for quiet retreat.

Hidden Gem

After Birmingham what a pleasure to find that a bit of England still exists. A lovely old cider house in a very rural setting. Genial host who seemed to have more ways of doing eggs than Master Chef. A very comfortable room with separate sitting room and bathroom. If there were a few warts to the idyll they were well compensated. A great stay

I booked for two nights but stayed one. A delightful period building which had seen better times and suffered severe neglect. Some accommodation was unsuitable for elderly or disabled people as access is by a steep iron staircase. However that particular apartment was delightful. I had a lovely clean room with sitting area and bath at ground level. However when I opened the door I was overwhelmed by the smell of damp and it was very cold. I wore my fleece in bed until I got warm. All the taps in the bathroom needed washers and the shower did not work. Also no grab rail on the bath. Parking scared me because I had to drive straight in and back out on 2 blind corners.  'Mine host' and his wife were unfriendly I felt most unwelcome. There were no sign of the advertised bar. Sadly there has been no maintenance on the back gardens and lily ponds for a least a year. The last straw was when the Proprietor served out breakfast (excellent menu) at about 9.10am told me at 9.30am he was locking up the dining room as he had to go out so I grabbled my toast and ate it outside. Alas my expectancy of this booking did not come to the high standard of its advertising so I cut my losses and quit.
