This review is from September 2011. We promised them a review but have only just joined Tripadvisor - a promise is a promise!!
My brother was getting married at The Rose & Crown just around the corner but we decided to stay in the Rose & Crown. We were very pleasantly surprised when we saw the place and were eagerly greeted by the landlady who showed us around and left us to choose which room we would like as we were the only guests staying that night. I can't remember the number of the room we chose but it was the middle one with one window overlooking the beer garden. The rooms were not luxurious but were exactly what was needed, in good decor and clean. We can't comment on the noise at night from the bar below as we were at the wedding celebrations so were back late for both nights we were staying there. One thing we CAN comment on though is the breakfast - wow!! It must have been triple the size of a full English but was amazing. We had a great time there and would not hesitate to book again with them if we need accommodation in the area.

A Proper Inn

I stayed at the Rose and Crown with my partner in July.  It was not worth the £85 a night but the staff seemed nice and the breakfast was good.  The room was OK... Tv didn't work which usually doesn't bother me but I was ill one night and had to stay in.  The bed was dirty around the sides.  They paid for our parking for which we ended up getting a parking ticket.   We had asked one of the staff if there was a time limit on the parking on sunday and he said it would be fine, there is no limit.  We got a parking ticket, they said they would pay it which I thought was nice.  Last week I got a letter for an unpaid parking fine for DOUBLE!.  I'm very upset as we trusted the bed and breakfast to sort this out or contact us if they couldn't as they had all our details.  It really upset me as I am strapped for cash at the moment.  I emailed the hotel to ask why it was not paid but no response.  Every time I rang the phone was engaged!!  I find this very upsetting as we trusted them and I don't know what makes them think that this problem would go away.  They obviously do not care about their guests.

Upset Guests

Stayed here recently for two nights. The staff are non-existent, it's more or less look after yourself. Breakfast is a hit and miss affair cooked by someone who looks as if they've been recruited from a hostel. The room was mostly clean, but the noise from the busy main road was very bad. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Weird Staff and Noisy Road

We stayed there for a week and they didn't change our bed sheets, even having asked them twice. We asked for our bin to be emptied and tea bags to be replenished, they said for us to empty our OWN bin! We had to do this down the street.

Breakfast was served only twice during our stay, other days they staff were obviously still in bed as the pub was pitch black.

Everything was an effort and nothing done before asking for it. 

The staff were mostly in the garden smoking during the evening so you have to go outside to get them to come in to get service.

Poor Service

Great little place right in the heart of Henley. We stayed during women's Henley regatta and it couldn't have been more convenient. Breakfast limited but full 'english' is excellent.  Parking is on-street, generally space easy enough to find but there is a waitrose car park 100m away
