We had a lovely time here.  Arrived after a whole day walking to be greeted by friendly and helpful staff.    Not an extensive menu but the food was good.  The rooms were well presented, clean and well decorated with all the amenities you would expect.  Really like the added touch of a brand new toothbrush (I am sure I am not the only one on occasions who has forgotten to pack one!).  A lovely full English breakfast after a good night's sleep meant we were refreshed and ready for another day of walking.  Thank you to everyone at The Roebuck for making our stay an enjoyable one.

Recently taken over by new owners I thought we'd try this place for Sunday lunch.. It's in a lovely area and we did a dog walk beforehand. Food was very good for the price and good selection of beers, wines and ciders. I hear cocktails may be on the menu in the warmer months too so excited to sit in the garden with one of them in the Summer!

Country Gem!

I've never left a "Terrible" review before but this pub really earned the rating. 

We phoned to book and were told we had to come early (fine). Upon arrival we were suprised to see an empty restaurant the whole time we were there. This speaks to how bad this pub has become.

The staff attention was non existant, we were dumped at a table and left. No effort to support the children or in any way accomodate. We enquired if there were Sunday roasts only to be told abrasively we hadn't booked for a Sunday roast. After some discussion the waitress returned and told us a roast could be prepared for us.

The shambles that appearered made microwave meals look like a feast. Sodden, tasteless vegetables and dry un-appetising meat. The whole thing tasted and looked dreadful. One of the worst meals I've ever eaten.

No effort was made to check on us, no atmosphere in the pub and no one came with the bill. The staff just stood around and chatted to themselves.

A great shame, this used to be a fantastic little pub but I will not be returning here.

Simply shocking Sunday Roast

After being in the industry for sometime, running my own pub and managing others I'm not one to normally write a review on here but, honestly I have never had an experience quite as bad as this. 
We booked a table for 7 of us on Sunday lunchtime. 6 orders of roast and 1 order of chilli, after waiting over an hour for our food we asked how much longer it may be - nobody had come and told us there was a delay and apologised in this time or asked if we'd like anymore drinks etc. We got told it was just coming...some time later still no food, we asked again and got told the same thing, still no apology. The food eventually came out some time after this, and honestly at this point we was all disappointed with what looked like a ready meal from a supermarket box plopped down in front of us all. The 2 pork roasts had clearly been ready for some time and been left under the holding light by the colour of the peas and the congealed gravy, the beef then came out and the concern was the fact the beef was grey/white in colour again like a frozen ready meal. The chilli was ok lukewarm and nothing to write home about. We sat waiting for the last roast beef to come out, nothing, went and asked and that eventually arrived with a quick drop down of the plate and 'sorry about that' as the server rushed off. 
No check back was made. No plates cleared. After quite sometime we thought we would ask for a bill which we had to go up to pay, turns out we got the wrong bill but the establishment is new and the gentleman behind the bar serving us looked like he was still trying to get to grips with the system. 
We complained about not just the quality of the food but the service too, a quick pop over to a table to apologise for the delay doesn't take much and makes a huge difference to the customers experience. One of the men behind the bad said there's nothing he could do, was very rude and aloof. We asked who the manager was if he couldn't do anything about it. Turns out it was himself. I explained that it doesn't take much to apologise and that the quality of the food left a lot to be desired, no check back was made otherwise we would of said something there and then or if the plates had been perhaps cleared? 

Well still trying to make excuses the man then explained how busy it was, now in the 2 plus hours we was inside the pub it was not at all overly busy and hectic. If that is what you think busy is I honestly wish you all the luck for when it is busy. I would recommend learning how to speak to customers and consider a new system on how to deal with complaints because your attitude was definitely not it, as a new business first impressions mean a lot especially is such a small local community with fantastic competition very close by! 

The decor and inside of the pub is beautiful and was the last time we attended a couple of years ago too and I really do hope you change things around and make this pub a success.

Sunday Roast

The food left a lot to be desired.  The all day breakfast - ok was ordered later in the day but think must have been plated then re heated.  The fried bread hard and fatty, the sausage hard to cut, likewise bacon.  The cheesy chips ordered as a side came out much later than mains, may have been microwaved to re heat as cheese went solid on the top.

The interior is nice, toilets clean and rear garden looked good -so get the food sorted and it will be a good location to stop off.

Just re opened - need to improve

August 2021,  our first visit to The Roebuck for quite sometime, it only reopened this week  under new management. 
   First impressions, the pub has been  very tastefully refreshed without losing  it’s character very comfortable, homely and a lovely garden for fine weather.  It was hard to choose from the menu as there was soo much which looked good. Well,  we were soo Impressed, our simple omelette chosen for a ‘LIGHT LUNCH’ was fab and looked and tasted like something you would have been more than happy with in a very expensive restaurant at more than double the price, wish I had taken a photo before we tucked in…
  For us a huge bonus is dogs are allowed inside not just relegated to the garden area.  We’ve booked again for Sunday lunch and looking forward to it……

Excellent, tasty  food!! Looking forward to going again with the dogs.

Wonderful food, very enjoyable. Remember to book as everyone will get in but you. 
Friendly staff, nice surroundings. Good prices.

Sunday roast

We have been going to The Roebuck for over 10 years. We heard it was under new Management so we made a reservation for yesterday evening to see what it was like. We are SO glad we went! 
A very warm welcome and the food was AMAZING! My steak was THE best steak I have ever had. Seriously, it was gorgeous!
Considering the pub has only been open a few weeks, they have done an amazing job! We took a bottle of wine with us as they are unable to serve alcohol until October, which wasn't a problem at all.
It is a family run pub with a lovely, warm atmosphere and we really felt at home. Thank you Sara  Ollie and family for a lovely evening. We will definitely be returning! We wish you all the very best with your new adventure at The Roebuck.

Fabulous Food!!!

I have been lucky enough to be introduced to Sara Oli and their lovely family, and I can honestly say that they are among the nicest people I have ever met. These guys are bringing back a public house that has a long history and in less than a week since reopening the doors I must say that they have done an amazing job. There is a lovely team around them and they are taking in information left right and centre from people with a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure that this business comes back to the community. So please, when you leave feedback on your experience whether it be dining or just a drink, this IS an amazing place for ALL the family and your fur babies. Everyone is welcome and these guys really deserve it after pushing through to open with a bang x
From their young team...who by the way are an absolute pleasure to be around to the visiting pooches, to the kids getting involved, Oli’s amazing food and Sara’s hospitality, I am raising a glass to you all , may your dreams come true guys 💖💖💖
