Appalling - we stayed 5 minutes and decided we could not cope with the smell - grubbiness - lack of welcome - dreadful state of the room.  We forfeited the payment we had made and went elsewhere.
The Star website is dishonest in the extreme. Avoid at all cost.

Be warned

While our experience was not as horrendous as the others I have read today on tripadvisor, I agree that the place is an absolute hole, the decaying front door off the street didn't close even partially, and was left open to the elements, leaves and debris littered the filthy stair carpet, obvious smell of weed on the landing, room was freezing, the staff member said 'oh I'll put the heating on for you now', the 'heating was an old electric radiator which was covered in old melted chocolate. duvet covers were evidently not fresh or clean, just a total dump really.
We booked into a b&b up the road and left the Star within an hour. It has a reputation throughout the town of being a dump, I'm amazed its allowed to trade as a b&b

To arrive at a pub where the beer is off and you are served with dirty glasses should have been the warning! To then be told there would be no breakfast should have been the second and that the credit card machine had failed should have done it! But no, I allowed myself to be duped by the stale smell of urine in the bedroom, the dirty thread bare carpet and 1970s decor! To use the bathroom you had to go outside to get to it and there were no controls for the tv! The night was only survived by keeping in touch with friends by text! In the morning, having trudged across the yard to the shower and toilet block that had flooded in the night (for the benefit of doubt I'm putting the puddles on the floor down as rain water), there was no hot water in the shower.  Tell a lie, 30 seconds actually, and then there was no water full stop! Which was a good thing as there was no soap anyway!
Returning to my room I opened the curtains and the rails came away from the wall!  
I could not get out of this place fast enough which is partially true as the door to escape was locked!
Eventually the landlord - a grubby bearded gentleman (who clearly sleeps in his clothes and his cap in far more salubrious residence notably the doorway across the street), let me out!

Shut the place down!

Disgusting , dirty, filthy place, no towels, no milk, unsafe - trailing leads everywhere, could not raise any service despite pub appearing to have a lock in but the very worse thing was someone entering our room at 2am in the morning with keys and when spoken to they just run off. Aborted stay, the owners have not had the decency to respond to our complaint, telephone unobtainable. What a shame this is a blight on Edenbridge and what a shame we paid upfront.

Horrendous

My wife, my sister-in=law and I rented two "en-suite" rooms for one night. When we found the place, its external appearance was off-putting - very grubby. But that may have been because oft he bad weather and road works nearby.
Going through the front door we walked straight into the bar entered a world unseen outside some horror movie. A bunch of grotesques, seated to the left stopped their conversation and stared at us with a look that might have been interpreted as "Hullo, here comes dinner."
We were greeted in a friendly enough way, though that did not distract from the sight of a lady (who later appeared to be an employee) straddled across the pool table adjusting he make-up. The bar area which extended across the ground floor was grubby and the smell of stale fat off-putting.

Our rooms were located up an iron exterior staircase and proved both unsatisfactory and weird. Removing the cover from out bed we found a ten pence piece! Was it a discount? Or something more sinister? We were never to find out.

The accommodation was basic to say the least: only a wardrobe to hang things in: no hooks or hanging space in the bathroom - not even for towels: only lukewarm water: the fitting over the sink lacked a lamp: the coffee available in the room was a pre-mix of coffee and milk powder - not much use to anyone who prefers black coffee: the whole place had the feel of somewhere that has be "done-up" without much money and with no particular skill.

We spent the evening elsewhere and on returning at 1030 found the bar empty except for what I assume was the resident tramp, a grizzled and untidy elderly man who shouted to someone that we had returned. Going outside to get to our rooms we found a group. including the receptionist, smoking and chatting. They fell silent as we passed through, apart from the drunk who kept apologising.

In the morning, predictably for the iron staircase was icy and no provision had been made for guests safety.Having negotiated that hazard, we re-entered the main building to be overwhelmed with the increased stink of grease. We left immediately.

The management of the place were friendly enough but the whole enterprise was characterised by a casual, well-meaning ignorance of the basics of modern guest management.

This place demanded payment in advance when we booked. I'm not surprised, otherwise we would have turned round and gone elsewhere when we first entered it. It really does not offer value for money.
