The Foinavon has recently been taken over by Kenny and Jo previously of The George & Dragon, Upton.  Three of us went for Sunday lunch today 18 June 2023. The restaurant is very nicely decorated light and spacious with a good atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered, 2 x roast beef and roast pork came with all the usual 
fresh vegetables in fact 5 veg plus the usual roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding, all nicely presented. I spoke to the landlord about the rooms for a stay and was given a personal tour. The rooms are lovely, beautifully recently decorated and the ensuite bathrooms too. We have already booked for next Sunday.  We wish Kenny and Jo every success with this new venture. 

Exciting New Foinavon

It has a lovely old world feel about it. The beds were clean and comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Connie is a great host.

I stayed at Foinavon/ former Swan this weekend. Friendly staff, comfy bed, quiet room overlooking the garden. Nice touch was a heated towel rail so towels dried easily.  Nothing fancy. Delicious breakfast. Plenty of parking. Recommend staying here.

Homely and welcoming

Three night stay including breakfast. Compton is a lovely village  nice and quiet. The locals are very friendly and there is a public land where you can go for a stroll. A village shop is directly across from the pub. 
On arrival, one of the pub staff took my Mum's luggage upstairs for her. We had an evening meal which was lovely. Downstairs is lovely and cosy. The pub has a big beer garden including an undercover area. Our room was a twin bed. It was very clean and quite spacious. Mum could have done with a non slip mat for the bath but staff said they had tried to get one. The shower was problematic but staff were informed whilst we were there so it could be looked at. The beds were comfy and there were lovely towels in the bathroom. Usual tea etc but would have preferred coffee sachets instead of a separate coffee machine which was fiddly. Good assortment of bath and shower bottles in bathroom. There was music playing downstairs but it didn't bother us. Good night's sleep was maintained as it is so quiet in the area. The breakfast range was good and our lovely Irish host made sure our drinks were topped up. The food was lovely. Poached eggs were yummy. All the staff we met were lovely. Well done!

We were blown away by how beautiful this pub is, first visit wont be the last!! lovely food and amazing service Gemma and Charlie fantastic team members cannot believe we have this gem on our doorstep x

Saturday date night celebrating anniversary

We stayed a night at Foinavon, the newly named Swan and had an evening meal and breakfast there.
The menu is quite limited but the food is very well priced and is really excellent value for money. I had the salmon fishcakes- delicious and a beautful pizza. Staff were very evident and attentive.
The room  we had was large, clean and comfortable if a little dated. It was  quiet and peaceful.The hotel has an enormous, well maintained garden
Our breakfasts were huge, Youghurt, fruit salad, full English, toast and jam and probably more if it was possible to eat any more.
On our trip we also stayed at Silbury House- Avebury, The Inn with the Well -Ogbpurne, The Rose and Crown- Ashbury and The Greyhound- Letcombe. In terms of all these ,Foinavon represented the best value for money in my estimation

Ridgeway Walk

My Fiancé and I went for a meal whilst the eat out to help out scheme was going, obviously the prices were ridiculously low, but even if they had been full price, the value would have still been amazing. Great portion sizes, lovely food, and brilliant staff that are always checking if you need anything else. We will definitely be returning in the future to try out more of the menu!

Amazing meal

My husband has stayed here several times before for business when it was The Compton Swan and always enjoyed his stays.  This time I decided to join him for a night.  This is a pub/restaurant with 6 rooms above. Rooms are perfectly adequate, with en-suite, tv, hairdryer, tea/coffee and water and a good selection of toiletries. If I was being picky I would say the pillows need renewing, the bed wasn’t the most comfortable and the tiles in the shower could have done with a scrub.  This is why I have only given it 4 stars not 5.  However the bar/restaurant does deserve 5 stars.  It is no longer fine dining at the moment as stated on the website, the menu is pizza, burgers, fish & chips, but the food is excellent best fish & chips I have had in ages and my husband said the pizza and burgers were amazing.  They are also taking part in “eat out to help out”.  Staff are also exceptional especially as they are having to work twice as hard serving drinks to all tables, they are run off their feet.  Atmosphere is really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is a continental choice or cooked to order hot food (all part of the b & b price) I went for the full English which was excellent with a large glass of orange juice, coffee, toast (with jam or marmalade if required) and fruit and yoghurt.  Would definitely return.

The food was expertly prepared by Connie. Both our dishes were from the daily menu which were  excellent. The quality was only matched by the quantity. The full English breakfast is enough to see one through until dinner.
