Hotel was lovely and clean, food was really nice, staff were friendly and the manager was very welcoming friendly & helpful.  Would recommend this hotel if you fancy a break looking around the town & taking in the beautiful scenery or if you love walking this is the perfect place to stay.

This was the first time I have ever stayed in WALES and my 1st walking holiday too and I was delighted with my experience 
There was so much to see and do the staff were all amazing but especially ‘Lorraine’
On breakfast and Basia (Barbara)  for the other meals 
All the staff work so hard and they are all a credit to this hotel.

Walking holiday

Our first holiday with HF so wasn't sure what to expect. Nythfa house is in a lovely location about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Brecon. We had room 5 which was assessed as a 'better' room. We weren't disappointed, it was a lovely big room with very comfy beds and spotlessly clean.   We enjoyed the plentiful food and the service at breakfast and dinner was very good. The staff worked very hard to make everyone feel welcome and to accommodate individual needs. We also enjoyed the walks. My husband enjoys longer harder walks so it suited us both that there were 3 choices of walks. I liked that there were a mix of people on the same holiday, solo travellers, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, these holidays cater for everyone, young and old, such a friendly atmosphere. Last but not least, I must mention the guides, John, Sue and Gerald, a very knowledgeable crew. Big thanks to John for showing me the best way to walk on a hill, it really worked . We are looking forward to book a second holiday with HF next year.

Hf walking holiday

What a fabulous place to stay. Tiff and Nina the manager and assistant manager run an excellent house. Food is top notch especially all the fish they serve and the lamb. Gorgeous rooms. Lovely swimming pool. Croquet to play at night & pitch and putt. Very quiet but also no distance from the town.  Spent 10 days there. It was like brilliant. Thank you to all the staff 

Excellent 

This was my first experience with both HF Holidays and Nythfa House and was most pleasantly surprised on the very high standards for the price paid.

The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area that is approx. 5 mins walk from the town with ample free parking spaces at the hotel.   My room was located in the attic and was very large with lovely fresh and modern furnishings (I was informed the room had very recently been refurbished).  The bed was very comfortable and the en-suite had a shower over the bath (a nice long bath that I could lie down in).    The room was kept spotlessly clean during my 3 night stay.

The food (breakfast, dinner and packed lunch) was of excellent quality with generous portion sizes designed for hungry walkers.  Dinner was pre-ordered the night before and there were 3 or 4 choices for each course meaning that, unless you are very fussy, you would find a dish you liked.    Pre-ordering dinner for a large group is a great approach as it meant that at dinner our walking group got fed on time and the hotel can reduce food wastage….in turn helping to keep down their costs (and prices for customers).

There is a bar area which was well stocked and at very reasonable prices.

For the walkers there is a boot room with ample shelving, seating, a drinking water tap (to fill up water bottles) and heating/dehumidifier to ensure wet boots and gear are fully dried out overnight.

Tiffany and her team were fantastic and did a great job at keeping everyone happy and created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.   10 out of 10 for the hotel team.

The guided walks were well organized with very friendly and knowledgeable guides.    Relevant and clear advice was given re appropriate clothing and footwear, walking conditions and walking terrain which helped ensure walkers were prepared.

Overall the short break far surpassed my expectations and I have already booked my next break HF Holidays.

Excellent guided walking holiday

My husband has recently discovered that he is much healthier if he avoids lactose, but had forgotten to forewarn this hotel prior to our stay.  Tiffany, the manager was not remotely phased, and was able to offer lactose-free alternatives.  And, having heard that he was disappointed about missing the apple crumble dessert (which contained butter) on the first evening, she surprised him the next night with an individual one made specially for him even though it wasn't on the menu!  She was unfailingly cheerful and helpful to our group throughout our stay.  Food's good too!

The walking in the area is varied and offers lovely views.well worth a visit.  The hotel is on the edge of the town, in a peaceful spot.

Exceptional House Manager

Nythfa House is owned by HF Holidays and we stayed there on our first guided tour in Wales and in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. We had a large comfortable room (number 6) - the only drawback being the small sink area in the bathroom with no room at all to put one’s toiletries. With two of us we simply used the floor.  
Breakfast was good, but following NF tradition the coffee is undrinkable (very weak and tasteless).  The service was excellent and many thanks to the barman - he was just perfect.

My fourth visit to an HF house, as always we received a warm welcome upon arriving for our walking weekend. Walkers are extremely well catered for both with the hearty food, lunch pack options and guide-yourself maps at the Discovery Point. The room was comfortable and spacious. The centre of town was a short walk away. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

HF at its best

Our second stay at Nythfa House did not disappoint. A warm welcome from deputy manager, Maria, friendly capable staff, excellent choice and high standard of food and well stocked bar! Many locally resourced food products served. High standard of accommodation and the swimming pool is an added bonus. The usual first class facilities for walkers i.e. boot rooms, driers etc.  Location of house close to centre of Brecon - just a 10 minute walk.

Lovely hotel and grounds. The Manager, Tiffany, was very welcoming and ensured we had all the information we needed for a pleasant stay. Her staff were friendly and efficient.The rooms were freshly decorated, simply furnished, with coffee and tea making facilities and all other acoutrements you could need, e.g. shower, hairdryer, shaving point, etc.
Breakfast, picnic lunches and evening meal offered lots of choice and were well presented and enjoyable. We would certainly return for a repeat visit.
