This was our second stay here with the previous being in November 2021. On both occasions we were in room 5. We were here for 3 nights this time. Although no room to park on arrival, we were directed to use a parking area allocated to the guest house which was less than a 5 minute walk away. 

We were greeted in a friendly manner and orientated to the facilities. Our room was on the first floor, accessed via a steep and narrow stair case. Our room had a double (?king sized bed) which was very comfortable. The heating could be adjusted by altering the settings on the radiator. However, the radiator was blocked in by the wardrobe. The room is small, with only one chair, but this was adequate for us as we were only in the room to sleep. 

The WIFI was good, as good as at home. There was a kettle in the room with sachets of coffee and different types of teas and infusions. Additionally, there was a cafetiere and “proper coffee.” I note the presence of the ginger biscuits from the Apple Pie bakery, but we didn’t try this. Fresh milk was available 24 hours/day from the fridge on the ground floor along with an “honesty” jar for crisps and other drinks. Also in the room were x2 wine glasses. In the bathroom was shower/body wash and hand wash. The bathroom contained toilet, basin and shower cubicle. The bathroom was very narrow with a heated towel rail. Towels and a tidy up of the room could be requested by leaving a sign on the room handle to indicate the request to staff. Otherwise, your room would be left untouched during the stay. 

Other facilities included the offer to use a drying room on the ground floor to store wet clothing, shoes etc. 

The room suffered from condensation with rivers of moisture running down the window each morning, however the room didn’t display any signs of damp or mould. 

This is a room only facility, though breakfast can be obtained at a 10% discount from the adjacent bakery/cafe on presentation of your room key to staff. This opens at 9am which was fine for our leisurely stay. This added £20/day approximately to our stay. 

Overnight, the sound of other visitors could easily be heard moving about in other rooms. We could manage this by using ear plugs. 

Would stay in this well located facility again.

Clean, basic and pleasant.

We had a lovely stay.  The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and had character.  
The tea and coffee facilities were particularly good, with a cafetiere in the room, and fresh milk always available in a fridge downstairs. 
Breakfast was not included, but the Apple Pie cafe next door, part of the same organisation, did superb breakfasts.  I would recommend their toasted bath buns. 
My wife and I were in a double room at the top of the house, and there are some low beams so we had to be careful not to bump our heads.   Our friends were on the first floor and had more headroom!  
They have electrical vehicle chargers which we were glad to use. 

A lovely stay in a beautiful part of the world.

We stayed in the loft at the apple pie .( Separate to the hotel , and above their bakery ) . It was room 34 , up a couple of flights of stairs.  We had 3 nights in this stunning location.  Our room view was of the fells in the background and the famous little house over the river by some courtyard eating areas just below us .  The huge window and a couple of well placed chairs made for the perfect place to sit and relax .   You purchased breakfast in their cafe ( discount with room key ) .  What a stunning plate of food .  I can't wait to return .

Nice touches such as gingerbread, fresh coffee for the cafetière and fresh milk from the fridge. Great value for a stay in the centre of Ambleside. Would recommend for a short stay in the Lake District

Good value accommodation

We had stayed at Apple Pie before so booked again. On this visit we had an attic ‘room’ which was extremely claustrophobic. Up a very steep and tight of stair we finally reached the roof rooms. Side by side. Our room welcome was an extremely low half arch. I’m 5’7 my husband 6’. I had to bend and avoid the step to get in, no mean feet whilst carrying a small suitcase. At the other side it got no better. The room was cramped and the ceiling was extremely and uncomfortably low. We could only stand at the mid section. There were beans on the ceiling that you had to bend further to avoid. This was not an experience we will repeat as after bumping our heads constantly it was unacceptable but there was no one to address this with as you get a closed window with a box for your keys when you leave. There is plenty of choice for accommodation in Ambleside and I’m afraid I would not return even if it was free. We also had to park quite a bit away as they only have 5 tight car park spaces & another 3 offsite a fair walk away with the hassle of carrying luggage from car to Apple Pie & parking in Ambleside is not cheap.

Claustrophobic Apple Pie

Really nice rooms and great value too. Great location. Very comfortable bed and awesome shower. The only thing that let it down was the walls were very thin and the party in the room next to us at 1 am sounded like it was in ours so not a great nights sleep.

Great place to stay

Not our first stay but will be back. We stayed in a double room, comfy bed, everything you need, very clean  & nicely decorated with some lovely added extras. A fab addition is the fresh milk for tea / coffee and the sweet little milk bottles for taking it back to your room.  Parking onsite is a great (and free) bonus too.

The Apple Pie is right in the centre of Ambleside which means you have lots on offer in walking distance. A visit to attached bakery / cafe is a must though!

Brilliant location and room was clean and had more or less, everything we needed. Ladies on reception were very helpful and the breakfast at the cafe next door was excellent. 
We were lucky enough to get a parking space, although there is an overflow carpark two minutes walk away, so all good if directly outside is full.
Only two slight issues, room was very cold and the radiator wasn't working, so a little chilly in the morning and the milk for tea making in the room, is obtained from the fridge in reception. Well, that's if you get there before it all goes. Alas, black tea for me then! 

Little Gem

A great location in the centre of town and even better if you get a parking space (we did !). The girls on reception are very friendly and helpful, the room was clean with all the facilities although the coffee was an extra touch ! excellent shower and noise was minimal. We booked on a friends recommendation and will definitely return and recommend.

A great location and a nice room

A small but clean room.  Small en-suite and small TV. 
It was very hot in the room but there was a fan provided.
It has a very small car park but we got last space because we were early.
A decent place to stay.
