Just looking at recent reviews at one of our most favorite holiday destinations on the planet, and its going to be bull dozed!!!

Terrible news, what about the tortoises that wander freely, the tinkling bells of the goats that meander past your door, the praying mantis that sat watching us as we had a drink at the bar, the geckos than amused us running around our bedroom walls, the fragrant smell of flowers wafting through the window first thing in the morning, feeling so safe that my young children could wander down the path to buy a loaf of bread fresh every morning from the quaint shop, (no cars) the banter from the wonderful bar staff, the humble cleaning ladies ...... I could go on, but I wont. 

How very sad.

So sorry to learn that Occakoy is soon to be no more, having had three idyllic holidays there in the early 1990s in the days of Anthea, Bob and Aslan.  We met some lovely friendly people and remember days out in Bob's gullet and super walks in the surrounding area with Shirley, long before Hisaronu became built up for mass tourism. We fondly remember the chef's little boys, Mehmet, Metan and Metin, if we remember correctly. Happy days, sorry future generations will not have the pleasure of the same experience.
PS For date of travel, please disregard the 2014 date!

Memories of Occakoy

We have just returned from our best holiday ever in this beautiful, peaceful, rustic place. In the name of progress it is all to be bulldozed and a new modern complex built. My heart goes out to the red squirrels, the birds, the cats and the tortoise. We found the Turkish people so lovely to the English. We enjoyed some great trips out, particularly two gullet trips with a great buffet lunch and the opportunity to swim in a warm sea from the boat three times on each day.

A crying shame!

we stayed at the ocakkoy cottages for 2 weeks in september, the place had been let go and it wasnt tidy it could of done with a sweep everyday, the kids pool was closed down during our first week, our saftey deposit boxes taken off us totally unacceptable but there was nothing we could do, there was no shop and the food wasnt great.
however the cottages were lovely. i am sorry that you are pulling it down and wish the staff all the best what ever they choose to do.

what a shame

Tables and chairs from the poolside shaded area were loaded on a truck and removed by Orka staff while disgruntled holiday makers protested. People who have booked their holiday and paid in good faith are experiencing the destruction of Occakkoy and the destruction of their holidays at the same time. Thompson and Anatolian Sky reps need to fight for the interests of their clients. 

This episode is just the latest sign of disrespect from new owners Orka Homes. The menu at the Resturant is comprehensive but most of the dishes are no longer available. The once beautiful grounds  are desiccated scrub, brown and dead from lack of watering. The Orka staff can't wait to see the back of us. Memhet is trying his best but Orka clearly don't care.
