A1 Hotel Restaurant Grauholz AG

Visiting a course at the WBZ-Emmenhof, my colleague and I searched for an inexpensive room for 2 nights. We stumbled onto Motel-A1 City which is only a 1-2 minute walk from the WBZ. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The shower, sink and toilet are found within the room, separated by a curtain rather than a door. We were there during a major heat wave, and had to sleep with the windows open, but the room cooled down quite well within a short time. We had a room facing the busy street, which provided a good deal of noisy traffic Light sleepers would need to close the windows or consider ear plugs. The employees were especially friendly! The breakfast included croissants, zopf and dark bread, butter, jam and honey, cereal, yoghurt, cheeses, lunch-meats, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, milk and a selection of teas. There are a few places to eat other meals nearby, but the hotel also has a restaurant with bar offering a few choices for lunch or supper. A grocery store, Migros, is also about 150 yards away. The river Emme flows nearby and has many places along its banks to relax or enjoy a BBQ. The busses run regularly only a 3-4 minute walk away; one takes you to Solothurn, a beautiful swiss city, within only 4 minutes. We enjoyed our stay and I would advise this hotel for anyone who appreciates friendliness and cleanliness and is not dependent on air conditioning and absolute quiet.
