Got shouted at and verbally insulted by a staff member on the last night for no reason. Absolutely no excuse to treat a guest this way. I’ve been to over 20 hotels this year and have never experienced such treatment. Absolutely horrendous.
Room key wasn’t working properly, sometimes took several minutes to open the door. Last day it stopped working altogether. No staff at the reception or a number to functional number to dial.
No hair dryer. 
Central heating, meaning I couldn’t warm the room up, for me it was too cool. 
Shared shower was not cleaned during the three days. Dirty sink and shower drain. 
No curtains, need a sleeping mask.
Extremely thin walls, I could hear neighbours talking and even snoring at night.

Horrendous experience

You have a room of your own to sleep in and a mini-fridge. Those things aside this is essentially a hostel. I could never charge people, look them in the eye, and tell them "This is your bedding." Walls are THIN. My one interaction with staff went well. Good location for tourists.

Know what you are getting

This hotel is located in one of the best areas in Stockholm! 
The furniture is outdated and the walls quite thin, but its good enough for a couple of nights in the old town. 
The staff was very nice, they even let us leave our bags before the check-in time.

Awesome location!

I stayed at Hotell Den Gyllene Geten for 2 nights in September.  I stayed in room 12, which was a small but adequate room.  It h ad a window, but no view to speak of as narrow sidewalk is right outside and then the building across the street.  (Not looking onto plaza, it's looking toward the back.)

Hotel Location is right on the square facing the Nobel Museum and a block from the Cathedral.  There are tons of restaurants nearby (though note, most - including coffee shops - don't open till 9am at the very earliest).  You are also extremely close to the Parliament and Palace, and the bridges to take you across the river to the new city.  I couldn't have asked for a better location.

I arrived before check-in and was permitted to leave my luggage for the afternoon until check-in.  Check-in, later that day, was easy.  The proprietress was quirky but kind, and made me feel at home.

The room had a shared shower/bathroom.  I never had to wait.  In fact, my entire stay I never saw another guest.  Bring your own toiletries, as there were sometimes shampoo bottles in the shower, but sometimes empty.  

Breakfast not included.  Quiet all night long.

amazing location

What a surprise. We chose the Golden Goat purely by chance and what a fabulous location right in the middle of Gamla Stan. The lady at reception was very welcoming and friendly. Our room, although dated was clean and the bed very comfortable. The shared bathroom was also clean and we never had to wait to use it. It’s a quirky little hotel and we’d gladly recommend it to others. 

Perfect location 

I checked in late but it was fine as I called ahead of time to let them know. The woman who checked me in was really nice and showed me around. The room was spacious and comfortable, though a bit dark. TV reception was not great but wifi was fine. The shared bathrooms are a bit cramped but were clean and reminded me of my college days. The place is right in the middle of Gamla Stan!

Excellent location, great value

Stayed for three nights and had a great time.
The Gyllene Geten (translates to Golden Goat) is situated in the square in Stockholm's most popular tourist destination the old town and is a few doors along from the cathedral in one direction and the Nobel Museum in the other. It really is a fantastic location for a base to explore Stockholm. All of this makes the fact that it was easily the cheapest proper hotel I could find in this notoriously expensive city.
The hotel is family run and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Our double room had a very large bed with two single duvets which is great if one likes it hot and the other feels cold. The room had all we needed including two comfortable chairs for taking the weight off of our worn out feet at the end of the day. There was agood size fridge as well as a tv in our room.
Two downsides on this hotel is that they don't serve breakfast but we turned this into a positive and used it as a way of exploring what was available, and secondly there are no en-suite facilities but again this was fine as the hotel is small and the number of shower rooms (all of a great size) was more than ample. 
A great place to use as a break to explore this beautiful city. A real hidden gem that's also kind to the wallet!

Fantastic quirky hotel in an excellent location. Bargain!

Located in the heart of Gamla Stan (Old Town), this small hotel is still very affordable. A short walk to the train station or the Hop On Hop Off Boats. We happened to arrive from Helsinki by ferry and walked to the hotel pulling our luggage along the ~ 1 mile journey. The shared bathrooms, outdated furnishings and eccentric proprietor were easily overlooked by me. The place was clean enough and provided us with  several good nights sleep in between exploring Stockholm. It was a little confusing to find for us but it sits at the corner of a public square by the Nobel Museum.

Location, Location, Location!

Our room was very small and not very clean. Staff not really friendly nor welcoming. Shared bathrooms were ok, but not the cleanest. For the price we would not stay there again even though the location was good.

Not again 

Fantastic hotel and in a fantastic location!
 
Stockholm is beautiful! And to stay in a hotel that was such a great location in the old town, was amazing. 
The staff were very friendly and helped us with anything that we needed, nothing was too much trouble. They were such lovely people :) 

The hotel had a shared bathroom but there was never a queue and i hardly saw other guests. There is also 3 bathrooms in the hotel so there wouldn't be a queue anyway.

I found the bells to be quite loud, they would chime every 15 minutes so id suggest bringing some ear plugs..you are however in the old town so church bells are expected lol 

I would return to this hotel, it was good value for money, a fantastic location and the staff really made our time in sweden memorable x
