Perfect service, rooms are very clean and maintained well. Its budget able hotel to visit with you friends. Breakfast was good ,owner is very friendly , but the swimming pool is just bit contaminated.overall good hotel to stay with your budget .

Great hotel to stay

I feel bad giving only two stars as the owners were lovely. We had two rooms for our family. Pluses were the WIFI which was really fast and reliable, the owners and the breakfast which was good. Our kids enjoyed the pool which was nice and clean.

We realise this is a budget hotel at $75 a night, but didn’t expect no hot running water, no blankets on the bed, stained and worn old sheets, no advertised TV. The hotel is on the busy main road but as there is no soundproofing the sound of trucks and buses roaring by kept us awake all night. Kids screaming (and I mean high pitched squealing / SCREAMING) in the pool at 6am and a Russian father threatening to kill us when we asked if they could be a little quieter meant that we were pretty tired (and scared) by the time we left. 

Hotel is ok for a short stop if you are out all day and it is peak season.



Lovely people 

This place is located on the road along the beach. It’s a 5 minutes walk to the beach. The place looks very outdated and is far from clean. The last investments must have been done years ago. Our shower did not work and after “repair” provided only cold water. The staff speaks hardly any English at all. The pool is OK. So was the breakfast.

I decided to have a weekend off in Mirissa. My family had travelled here and said it was beautiful. They were not wrong. Mirissa beach and its lush surrounds are idyllic. There is such varied offerings for all types of travellers for accomodation and food.
Liyanage Resort was perfect for me. It would also be great for couples and families. The rooms have fans, aircon and a fridge. Simple but perfect. The host family are wonderful and friendly. The mumma made me dinner and it was delicious and breakfast too! Large servings that I couldn’t get through!
Lovely pool, I enjoyed my midnight swim. It is across the road from the beach too! Super reasonably priced. Thank you for my stay x

Mirissa by the Sea

A small, cosy hotel with only eight rooms, set in a lovely tropical garden with a clean swimming pool with cool water (not always the case in the tropics). It is located on the Galle-Matara road with its shops and restaurants, just across from Turtle Beach – yes, you can actually swim there with the turtles! Go to the Sea Goggle beach bar – for drinks, food, sun-loungers and snorkelling equipment. The rooms are spacious and clean, with four-poster beds draped in mosquito nets and a balcony or porch. You can take breakfast on the roof terrace with its views of the sea through the palms. Breakfast itself is a sumptuous affair – not a buffet, but all kinds of Sri Lankan specialities like hoppers, dhal, chapatis, rice and pancakes filled with sweet cocont, along with the usual Western breakfast foods like eggs, toast, jam amd butter. The fruit is a dream: pineapple, banana, water melon, mango, papaya and passion fruit. The best thing about the place is, however, the staff. It is a family-run place and all the members are there to help you, be it with a tuk-tuk into the centre, an excursion, an airport transfer or any information you might need. When we left they all came to say goodbye. We will definitely be going back next year.

A Home from Home

This resort Is on good place, next to main road, but at rooms is silent. The rooms Are clean And comfortable. The breakfast Are tasty and rich. The staff Are very friendly and helpful. Here I spent a great time. Thank you!

Great hotel on beautiful place

We unfortunately didn’t have a great stay. The room had a damp smell throughout the stay which wouldn’t go away (we were in a non-Ac room in saying this). There were stains on the pillows and a big clump of hair in the shower on our arrival. 
Unfortunately initially the communication wasn’t great - we had a hard time finding out where breakfast was, what time checkout was or any information on activities. Eventually though we were aided in finding a place to do snorkelling as well as in arranging transport to our next location. Breakfast was very large and varied however this resulted in a lot of waste! Located a bit out of the main town, about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Would recommend visiting cafe 101 (about a minute away) for lunch/dinner with your stay! An average budget hotel. 

Average hotel 

This is a budget resort and as such is a good place to stay for a short stop over.  The pool is a great addition and the location to the beach (despite no pavement) is great.  We only stayed a night as we visited for whale watching but where we were disappointed was the family room that we booked.

It was musty for the duration of our stay and it was not cleaned very well.  The fact that the family room was next to the road was also not helpful.

However the room did offer a fridge and a kettle which is a plus for a location such as this.  I would probably state it wouldn't suit families but I would have been more than happy with the room and the price I paid in my student days.
