Everything was perfect! Quite place, not so far from the city, close to the beach and surrounded by nature. Owner is super friendly and helpful and his wife cooks the best food ever! Rooms are clean and really nice. Perfect place to stay and relax! Highly recommend ❤️

Nice cabanas in a quite, green spot

Had a fantastic stay at these cabanas. The family members are great hosts and very kind. They make delicious rotti and curry for a very good price (much better value then elsewhere). Also they gave us nice fresh fruit plates with ananas, papaya and banana every morning when we asked. It is a much better stay than the overpriced cabanas directly at the beach itself, because you have access to the same beach and restaurants!

Great value, close to the beach

Simple cabanas in a beautiful space. Very short walk to an amazing beach. Quiet and relaxed. Patio area outside room with seats and a hammock. Hosts were simply brilliant. Family run, food was fresh and incredibly tasty and portions enormous. Nothing ever a problem. They have also a taxi, which brought us to Mirissa for a wonderful whale watching cruise, and then also back to negombo before our flight home. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Beautiful place, beautiful people

Thankyou so much to the kind & friendly family running Star Light Cabanas! The rooms were spacious, comfy & VERY clean! Loved the hammocks and sitting area! The family made us feel at home with their hospitality & warms hearts! Were only planning on spending 2 nights and we would have stayed 7 if the rooms weren’t fully booked! Loved how we were away from the main road and from other tourists! They offer bike rentals and close to the beach! We really enjoyed our stay! Food is amazing, HUGE portions and so tasty! Thanks again for all your help! 

Best Place in Tangalle 

A secluded spot away from Tangalle. You'll need transport to go back and forth to town or beach restaurants (although a couple are walkable).  Basic but all you need (unless you want AC). Lovely hosts and good food. 

Lovely peaceful spot

This is the place to be at if you plan to visit Tangalle. It is not exactly Tangalle but near marakolliya beach. The hosts are super nice and helpful. The food they offer is mind blowing if you are into local Sri Lankan authentic food. The place is clean and nice. Marakolliya beach is not swimming friendly but is just 5 minutes walking from the property. The owner gave us the cheapest deals when we had to rent an auto and cab. Such a lovely family. Took care of every small things and so polite, humble, loving, helping and caring. They will do everything for you. If you're visiting sri lanka, book a stay here. At least spend 2 nights. We cancelled our trip to Nuwara Eliya and extended 1 more night here. Trust me, you won't find better hosts. And after reading this if you plan to stay there. Give them our regards. We are Indian and Spanish couple and they will remember us too, hopefully.

Fantastic hosts and very nice property

The family owner of the place is marvellous: very kind, helpful and nice. 
The huts are also very good: clean, cozy and comfortable. 
It's near a beach but unfortunately it was not very safe to swim there so we had to go to other ones nearby. 
We enjoyed so much there that we changed our next stay to be able to stay one night extra here. 
Highly recommended. 


Best stay in Sri Lanka!

This place is about 3.2 kilometres from the city centre and at a walking distance from the beach. The cabanas are set in serene surroundings. The host Chandnan is an affable person who helped me hire a scooter and a taxi at reasonable rates. His wife Dinesha cooks tasty dinner and breakfast. Say my hello to them if you happen to go there.

Enjoyed my stay

If you want to get away from it all this is one of the most remote spots in Tangalle. Best for backpackers looking to hide away for a couple of days. The Cabanas are well built but a tad no frills. Best thing is the hammock. The food is good solid Sri Lankan fare (the hoppers are excellent) and the family who run it cannot be faulted as hosts. So friendly and welcoming. The beach is a short walk. You are not advised to swim as the surf is heavy and there are dangerous currents. Most awkward point is finding a lunch spot on the beach. The nearest is a fairly long walk at Mangrove Beach Cabanas.
