We spent 4 weeks at Sanron Homestay during our medical elective, and could not recommend it more. The house is beautiful, very conveniently situated for Galle centre (15 mins on bus) and Karapitya and Mahamodora hospitals (also both 15 mins on bus). Roof terrace is real highlight, with beautiful views across Galle. Rooms are basic but very clean and have option for air conditioning, or fans only. Beds provided with mosquito nets. Another highlight of this accommodation was the hosts, Laki and Rohini. They are so friendly and caring, and take the time to show you how to get about Galle. Rohini also puts on an amazing cooking lesson which you definitely should do! We loved our time here, and thought it was amazing value for money. Thank you so so much to Rohini and Laki for looking after us so well and letting us stay in your beautiful homestay.

Would highly recommend!

We stayed here for 4 weeks during our elective and couldn’t have asked for somewhere better to stay! The accommodation is between the hospital and the beaches, you can easily navigate around Galle by the buses which are just down the road or you can just as easily use tuk Tuks to get around. Although the beaches are a little further away I think it’s quite nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Galle. The rooftop is excellent for chilling out in the evenings and you can get a spectacular view of the sunset. 

There are a few restaurants nearby which you can grab a cheap dinner or there is handily a supermarket just down the road and you can make yourself a meal in the shared kitchen. The rooms are a little basic but they have all you need!

One of the highlights of the trip was meeting the other students that also stayed here. We managed to take a few weekend trips together and its something that you may not necessarily get to do when staying in hotels. 

Our hosts Laki and Rohini were so helpful and approachable during our stay. They were always happy to organise trips, book taxis and give us advice on where to go! We were also lucky enough to be here during New Years in which we were treated to a traditional meal. 

Overall, Sanron is a lovely place to stay for a medical elective! I couldn’t recommend it more.

Excellent place to stay with lovely hosts!

It's very near to the hospital . Most of the time it was filled with elective students . The rooms are clean and big but do not expect much of fancy amenties here . The wifi was slow but other things were great . I loved hospitality and warm welcome by Laki and Rohini .

Very welcoming and warm  Host

Sanron homestay is a wonderful place to stay if you are on elective either at Karapitiya or Madamodara hospital. It is halfway between the hospital and the town centre, so has the benefit of being well situated but quiet at night. The rooms are comfortable and there are several bathrooms, a shared kitchen, living and dining room. Laki and Rohini are the sweetest couple and could not have done more for us. Would highly recommend. 

Great Accommodation for Elective Students 

Stayed at Sanron Homestay for two months for my medical elective which was split between Karapitya and Mahamodara. Great location with a bus stop at the bottom of the road where you can easily get to both hospital and to Galle city centre. 
Rooms are basic, but pleasant enough with mosquito nets and fans. The kitchen is small but fine to use if cooking in groups with other students. 
The house has a roof terrace which has a brilliant views across Galle and is great for sunbathing or having a few drinks on on a night.
One of the highlights of this place is the host family- Laki and Rohini are so welcoming and happy to help if you have any problems or need any help with arranging transport/weekends away. 
Only problem we had was with the wifi - it was quite slow and sometimes didnt work at all, especially when the house was full with 20+ students. 
Would otherwise highly recommend this homestay for anyone on their elective in Galle.

Great accomodation for elective students

Stayed for a number of weeks doing our medical elective in Karapitya. Fab location, on the bus route to the centre and to the hospital (10 minutes to both). Has a kitchen which is useful, as well as a washing machine, and very social with lots of students. Mosquito nets provided. 

However, not the cleanest place, and there is no system for the fridge, which would be easily fixable. The wifi is also pretty bad, which can be frustrating if there for a long time.

Overall a good place for elective students, but please fix the wifi!
