First thing I noticed about this hotel was the incredible view of Nine Arch Bridge. The rooms are average size with a balcony, surrounded by palm trees and monkeys. The breakfast here was amazing; there's so much choice and the owners kindly bring it up to the balcony for you to enjoy. There are tuk tuks you can use to get to and from the hotel, as it's located down a steep path. Not recommended if you have mobility issues due to this.

Best View of Nine Arch Bridge!

We stayed two nights with Sunethra and Ruwan and their family. The room was super clean, and you won’t need air conditioning as the air is cool and fresh on this side of Ella. The view to Nine Arches Bridge is STUNNING- I think we took the same picture thirty times because of the changing light- it’s just so pretty. Friendly and warm service and absolutely wonderful Sri Lankan breakfast (western was also an option, but we couldn’t pass up the chance to get real homemade curries and roti!). Ruwan drove us to the starting point to walk up to Ella Rock, and we parked safely inside the gates.

Wonderful view and great breakfast!

This is a small lodge (I think it has 6 rooms) just above the nine arch bridge. Unfortunately our room had no view to the bridge at all. However, our friend's room had a splendid view to the bridge. So it is critical which room you get. Our room had a single and a double bed, one bedside table, a rack for a suitcase and a rack for hanging clothes. It was equipped with a fan (no AC) and a mosquito net. There was free WiFi. The bathroom was large with nice towels and toilet paper. Everything was clean. Tea or breakfast is served on the top floor, where you have a great view on the bridge. Breakfast was basic (egg, toast, butter, jam) but came with a nice selection of fruits. The staff was very friendly and also served us tea to the room. The house is at the end of a very small road. We could just barely get our car there. For dinner we walked to the town (20 minutes), passing also the starting point for the hike to Little Adams Peak. As the house is off the main road it is very quiet in the night. We really enjoyed it to sit on the balcony watching the trains come and go. So far the best place I have stayed in Ella.

Train lovers dream accommodation

We have just had 2 nights staying at this lovely place. It’s really cool place and u can see nicely the nine Arch. Breakfast was nice Sri Lankan style. No close by any restaurant for lunch. Room was not really bad. Hot water you can get. Can’t complain it’s family business and no other place like that. 

Great place 

We took a tuk tuk to the trail to walk down to the tracks.  There are two trails. One that is a natural “slippery slope” and a second further trail that has concert steps and much safer. 

Our amazing tuk tuk driver walked with us and timed it so that we would see the train while we were there. 

Lots of people and a wonderful hum fell over the crowd as the train whistle neared. About a 15 min walk from the tuk tuk and we brought along a bottle of water although you could purchase some cold water just before the descent. 

Surrounded by the lush jungle and tea plantation, incredibly picturesque. 

A train lovers must!!

- The view. 

- Nice breakfast & Dinner. 

- Comfortable room. 

- Quiet place. 

- Close to city center by tuk tuk (Less than 5 min - 400Rps) // Close to the bridge (If you're walking on the right path ! 15 min by walk) // Close to little adam's peak (15-20 mins to the start of the stairs/of the hike).

- The wifi was not working really weel

Best place for a nice view on the bridge

This place is a small jewel of accomodations in Ella. Stunning view from the room straight on 9 arch bridge, the rooms are very nice and clean and have a balcony with direct view on the bridge. The bridge is just 5 min walk from the room. The staff is very nice, kind and helpful. Quiet beautiful place!! we've seen few other places prior this one and this one killed all the previous ones with a view, cleanliness, hospitality, comfort and the price. Superb stay here! Thank you!!

Great hidden place with a stunnung view!!

Very clean and comfortable room. Greeted with a pot of tea on arrival. Room was down some very steep steps which was difficult to navigate with a large suitcase but staff helped me out. The view from my balcony - wow! Absolutely beautiful. Could see for miles over the Nine Arch Bridge. Get to see the trains pass over the bridge throughout the day (and night!). Luckily I didn’t hear the trains at night and found the room to be very quiet and peaceful to sleep.
Short forest walk/trek down to Nine Arch Bridge - only around 10 minutes but very steep!! 
Owners do not speak fantastic English but they’re very accommodating and do their best. Took me to the train station in their Tuk Tuk with no issues.

Spectacular views!

We stayed at the 9 arch lodge during our trip through inland Sri Lanka.  We arrived in the evening so it was very dark.  The rooms have all you can need in a room as long as you are not looking for some fancy 5 star amenities. Good bed,  clean shower and toilet and very good wifi.  The best part you will however only discover when you wake up in the morning and open the bedroom windows, a breathtaking view of the 9 arch bridge , which is right infront of the hotel.  A decent breakfast is served on the roof terrace so also there you can enjoy the best possible views. Extremely friendly owners make this really a fantastic place to stay!

Best views of the 9 arch bridge

Beautiful views from the balcony of the bridge with trains going past in a green lush setting. Basic accommodation with no air con, no TV and a sewage-smelling bathroom with a weak shower which was difficult to regulate the temperature. However, this a good one-night stop to get to Adam's peak. This family-run hotel charges for tuk tuks to go a few hundred meters slightly uphill to the main road, but it's walkable. We didn't have a welcome tea and sweets like some other reviewers either. The breakfast is served on the veranda on the top floor, with no options bland omelette, fruit, bread and local jam which all in all was OK for our early morning walk to Little Adam's Peak. The air is much cooler in this area, and the sleep without air con would've been OK apart, unfortunately, there was a howling/barking/whimpering dog somewhere nearby that was barking loudly ALL night, and because of that, we didn't get any sleep at all. Probably it was a one-off and it's not the owner's fault but it's something to be aware of if you want a peaceful night's sleep. Without the view, I would've marked it as 3 stars.
