A visit to the oil mill is informative  but you need to appreciate it is mechanised and produces the oil in large volumes. In October nothing much goes on but you can still see the ancient presses and vats.  There is the usual shop but we did not like the oil offered.  There are other items to buy at a reasonable price and also some old photographs around.  This is not worth a special visit unless part of a tour.

Interesting but olive oil ordinary

This was a fun place to tour. The drive up the mountain was beautiful to this historic traditional olive oil mill. Our guide explained the history and process and hosted an olive oil, bread, and wine tasting. 

Traditional Olive Oil Mill

A fascinating visit to a small family run olive oil factory. It is generations old but still producing delicious oil. One of the proprietors, Juan , gave us an informative tour of the production area, which is one of the last manually run  works. We then retired to the cosy lounge shop to watch a short and interesting video of how the oil is made with some of the family history included. The family has owned the business and olive grove for generations. This was followed by a generous and delicious olive oil tasting, with cheese and fresh bread. 
Well worth a detour to find near Zahara el Sierra.

A step back into the history of olive oil

We visited this establishment a few times and fell in love with the olive oil. It is spectacular. While the UK was in the EU we ordered it to be shipped to the UK in 20litre  units (4 × 5litres) and while the shipments were slow and communication not brilliant, the goods did arrive. Our last attempt to buy another 20litres failed. We did pay 200 Euros as instructed and the shipment was attempted by the company at least once, possibly twice. We ordered in April 22 and after a few months we gave up and asked for our money back. The money never arrived even after repeated messages and phone calls and promises. So, feel free to visit and purchase the oil but NEVER EVER order remotely and expect it to arrive if outside the EU. As good customers of a number of years we feel like this company has stolen 200 Euros from us and has stopped communicating with us. We were always polite and very patient but time is up for this outfit. Beware.

Great oil, awful service

We stayed at the small villa for 2 persons. It was by the road beside the mill. NO POOL. NO INTERNET.
On our arrival the host was not there just an employee of the mill who took payment and took us to our villa afterwards. We booked this place because of the pool, we dreamed of dipping our toes in the pool after walking all day. It was end on May beautiful sunny weather, 25 C. However we were told the pool is NOT OPEN TILL JULY. We have NOT even SEEN the pool don't know where it was.
The employee spoke little English, the owner said on the phone we can not get refund even though there was no pool as advertised. We did not meet him during our 2 night stay.
The house is spacious, though gloomy, with the sleeping quarters upstairs (steep stairs) the bathroom downstairs. The hot water temperature was constantly changing in the shower, the heater turning on and off. It was impossible to enjoy a proper shower. The bathtub is very small (sitting tub?) also not suitable for a tall person. The toilet tank is filling up with a slow trickle. The towels (only 2) were hidden in a cupboard UPSTAIRS.
The view from the terrace is nice but the patio furniture is very basic. 
We were disappointed, the only accommodation we would not recommend on our road trip of 2 weeks, all the other places turned out lovely.
The town in May is a sleepy village with most places still closed on a May week-end. Next time we would rather stay in Grazalema or Benamahoma. 
The walk up to the castle on top of the hill is very nice, beautiful views.

Misleading advertisement. No pool.

On our way to the olive mill from Seville, a road was blocked and we had to take an alternative route. We arrived an hour after closing time. Juan, the owner ( and 11th generation) kindly waited for us. It was an interesting tour. Juan also treated us to the olive oil( spectacular), bread, cheese, ham, and wine.
Highly recommend the tour. We also walked around the town of Zahara which was quite picturesque.

Fantastico! ( great olive oil tour)

Just outside of Zahara de la Sierra is a great olive oil "factory".  Our guide gave us a tour of the factory and how olive oil is made.  Then the owner gave us an olive oil tasting.  Very interesting and loved their olive oils!

11th generation olive oil factory

One of the owners was kind enough to give us a tour of their 19th century olive oil presses, tanks, etc. Afterwards, he treated us to a plate of bread with oil to dip into, while we watched a brief video showing the equipment in use.  They did not charge us for any of this, although we bought oil and gave a nice tip. It's a bit hidden but we'll worth the effort! 

Great Olive Oil Tour

We visited the olive oil mill, learnt about the making of olive oil from start to finish, walked among the olive trees watching the harvesting and tasted the oil.  It made for a fun, informative and pleasant stop on our tour of the White Towns.  The owner was very pleasant and told us a lot about the mill that has been in his family for 300 years!!  We bought some bottles of his olive oil as gifts.
