La Casona De Priorio

Las Caldas is on the outskirts of Oviedo, no more than 15 minutes by car away. Las Caldas has a large hotel with some fine eating around it , but a kilometre up the hill in a tiny village is La Casona, a gorgeous older home with a large , rambling garden, perfect for a couple of days of getting away from things. The rooms are clean and large enough, and the breakfast substantial enough to get 2 enthusiastic cyclists through the day. What really shone through , though, was the preparedness of our host to look after her guests. Despite language limitations - my Spanish is shocking ! - she quickly worked out my mate Gary's love of buttered toast, was happy to do some laundry for us and, most importantly, when we managed to leave some property, went to great lengths to contact us via Internet and phone (using an English speaking friend) and even contacted our next accomodation for us. Enormously impressive. It was a pleasure to share your home !
