Front desk ahjussi totally cannot speak English. Door was spoilt,unable to lock and were asked to sleep through the night cause he can't repair it. 
Hairs spotted on Bedsheet. . Stayed 3days n totally no housekeeping! 
With balcony and ski slope view is impressive (we paid much more cause of e Olympic ski surge)
It's also very Far from everywhere,if you don't have transport awaiting,please do not book tis place! 
2 convenience shop near Left of hotel,do note that the 2nd shop pricing is much cheaper.  
*Convenience shop sells Fireworks for 10,000 won. 

Will never return again

I was hoping the electrician to repair the problem immediately but it seems no one come to repair. Why??....we paid the room but the service is very bad.

We have to sleep in cold and dark room!!!

We went to the counter and waited for 1 hour...no one is on the reception counter.

During the check in..no one is on the reception counter.

We travelled in group of 4 during the winter period. The unit is spacious and though the bedroom upstairs can fit 2, this place can take an additional 2 more guest comfortably. it has functioning basic amenities - kitchen, bathroom. it is a little distance from phoenix park where the ski area is but for the price we paid, I would say it was worth it. the catch about that place is the staff speak very little english but they had been very helpful to us in anyway they can. a little far from phoenix park but its worth the stay

Experience of Korean Suite Holiday!

We booked the junior suite at Sweet Coop House because we were a party of 2 adults, 2 older teens and a toddler (aged 4). The room consists of a "bedroom" loft which has a Korean bed with a mattress the size of a double bed, and there were 2 additional single mattresses (very thin). We laid the 2 single mattresses on the floor in the "living room" area, and overall, we were comfortable. It was -6 degrees centigrade outside (late Dec 2016), but due to the heated floor system, we were hot inside the room. That is a good thing.

The suite also had a little kitchenette, and supplied pots, pans, plates, spoons etc. For one of the two nights, we bought some simple food from the nearby convenience store to cook dinner. And we had warm breakfast using the kitchenette too, as this hotel/hostel does not have its own restaurant (there is a Korean BBQ restaurant connected to the hotel, but it is not part of the hotel, nor is it open during breakfast time).

The room does not have a microwave. But there are two microwave machines in the lobby area for all guests to use.

The toilet/shower area does not share the heated floor, so was a bit cold. And the hot water supply was occasionally lacking (i.e. might suddenly go cold for a few seconds).

The best part of the hotel was the room price. It was lower (for a group of our size) than anything in the area (that was online). Maybe there might be other locally run pensions that were cheaper, but we wouldn't know how to book those.

The hotel is somewhat near the Phoenix Park Ski Resort. We even walked back from the Resort to the hotel, and it was about 20-30mins on foot (in snow).

More sensible is to do research and take advantage of the Phoenix Park shuttle bus that runs to Jangpyeong. From Phoenix Park, the shuttle's first stop is less than 200m away from Sweet Coop House, in front of a row of restaurants and a convenience store. Coming up from Jangpyeong, Sweet Coop will be around 15 mins ride, and if you pay attention, you can see it from the main road and get off. The shuttle is (as at Dec 2016) free.

There are a few challenges if you choose to stay at Sweet Coop: the staff there do not speak much English. The staff are however extremely willing to be nice and to help. I was prepared for this. The best way to communicate with them is to see the free wifi password at the check in counter / reception, connect, and then use google translate to say whatever you want to the staff, from booking a taxi to how long it takes to walk to Phoenix Park. 

The second challenge is that the mattresses are generally very thin. Those of us used to spring mattresses or memory foam will have a hard time waking up the next morning, especially if you went skiing.

Another challenge is that they only give very small towels (in other countries, these might be called Face Towels). No other toiletries supplied either.

There is no room service, and entrance to your room is by PIN number on the door. There are many restaurants within walking distance (200m) from Sweet Coop. From fried chicken and beer to bbq to pizza. And two convenience stores (of the same chain), one smaller and a bigger one just down the road (can't miss it). 

Yet, we had a good time at Sweet Coop. True, most of our time there was either breakfast or sleeping (the rest at Phoenix Park), so it is what it is. However, there was a little bonus for our small kid. There is a small playground at the back of the hotel. And one morning it was covered with fresh powdered snow. He really had a good time there.

I would think that Sweet Coop is best suited for those on a budget. So in the next few paragraphs, I will outline "the cheapest" way to get to Phoenix Park (and Sweet Coop).

There are many ways to get to Phoenix Park, from Seoul or Incheon Airport by luxury coach, for example. These systems can be found on the Phoenix Park website. They cost a lot more than what I will be describing next.

We did our background work, and found that the cheapest way to get to Sweet Coop from Seoul was by inter-city bus. 

Get to Dong Seoul Bus Terminus and buy a ticket to Jangpyeong Interchange. This could be scary as within Dong Seoul, you will see THREE different ways of spelling Jangpyeong (using roman characters). Best to be familiar with the Korean characters of Jangpyeong, prepare it on a sheet of paper or your mobile phone and show it to the ticket counter. Buses run many times across the day and night from Dong Seoul to Jangpyeong, costing (as at Dec 2016) around 11,600 won or something like that, one way. You will get a ticket which specifies your seat number and bus departure time. Go find the bus bay and load up your own luggage. Then you are on your way to Jangpyeong. 

Jangpyeong was our first stop after leaving Dong Seoul, around 2 hours away. Hopefully you would have previously found the Phoenix Park shuttle bus, and know what time is the next pickup from Jangpyeong. 5 mins before the pickup, exit the terminus and cross the road. There ought to be a queue (even in -6 degrees centigrade temperature). And the shuttle will come (roughly) on time. The shuttle will have Phoenix Park written all over it. As mentioned earlier, get off when you get so close to Phoenix Park ski slopes as if it is just behind the buildings in a small village (assuming my photos upload here, you can see the area in front of Sweet Coop).

Hence, the grand total cost to get from Dong Seoul to Sweet Coop should be exactly the price of that bus ticket. I am sorry, I have no idea what a taxi from Jangpyeong to Sweet Coop will cost.

The return leg should be the same. Wait for the Phoenix Park shuttle outside the convenience store nearest Sweet Coop, get to Jangpyeong interchange and buy your ticket back to Dong Seoul (or wherever else you want to go e.g. Sokcho).

Overall, considering the price of Sweet Coop, and convenience to Phoenix Park, we wouldn't mind coming back again.
