Stayed for a week, visiting family. Really nice, decent proprietor. Comfortable accommodation. I was pleased the other venues were booked up and so, as a result I found Ruxmian Lodge.
You're close to the sea, shops and places to eat, without the noise that goes with it.
When I was there, there was no selling of liquor, the comfortable lounge was purely for relaxation.

My review is a back-dated review for June 2019, prior to the pandemic, so I cannot answer the related questions, However I feel this venue is well worth consideration and I highly recommend it.

Home from home - comfortable, private

We made the mistake of going to Cape Town on holiday during the world's largest conference on mining and extractive industries. We called hundreds of hotels and could not find a room anywhere within 50 miles from the city. Finally we found space at Ruxmian Lodge. The location is far away from Cape Town city, but is near the sea and there is shopping, eating, and entertainment in the area. The Strand is like a quiet retirement community and has all the comforts of a holiday without the LOUDNESS of the city.

The individual rooms at the Ruxmian lodge were quite small, but we stayed in the "annex" which is a full 4 bedroom house. We found the place very comfortable and relaxing, after the chaos of the city. It's a short drive to the beach, Gordon's Bay, etc. We were expecting to see far more tourists on the beach but in fact it was pleasantly sparse with tourists. The owners of the "lodge" are VERY nice and exceedingly friendly and helpful for first time visitors. This was just the relaxing break we needed after several months of intense stress - and Ruxmian Lodge was the icing on the cake.

We would recommend the annex at Ruxmian lodge to ANYONE wanting to visit the area.
