Great location and easy access. Functional and friendly.

On arrival we were met by a young lady who could not be bothered to speak to us only beckoned us to our rooms which were dirty and not very well equipped. The bed linen was very off white and pillows stained with black marks. There was no milk in the rooms for coffee and the wifi was supposed to work everywhere but it was not very good at all. There were cobwebs around the windows and doors and outside furniture, looked like this place had not been cleaned in months and there was an open kitchen bin full of stinking rubbish alongside the sitting area. The lady had already left and said she will be back in the morning. She came in and started cooking breakfast, not even asking what we would like and when my sister told her shes vegetarian she just looked away and didnt respond. Either shes downright rude or does not understand english but either way its not good enough to treat your guests like this. When she served breakfast she went outside on her phone, smoking and shut the door. We had to ask for more coffee as she didnt want to speak at all it seemed like too much trouble for her. On leaving she just held her hand out for the keys and walked off. What a terrible place I would NEVER stay here again and it cost us more than some of the other perfect guesthouses.. a total waste of hard earned money.

THE WORST ever.. Do not stay here unless you want to spoil your holiday. Filthy throughout.

Greeted by staff who really didn’t know how to speak with guests. Dirty room. Cigarette ends in a dirty ashtray outside our room ( obviously not cleaned after previous guests). Dirty doors and pillowcases although washed were stained. No one to speak to regarding this as the lady just said “I’ll be back tomorrow at breakfast” then left. Only 1 towel between us and when I told the lady the next morning I just got a stare and she turned her back and started cooking bacon for breakfast before even asking what we would like. As I am vegetarian I had to say before she cooked some for me. Once breakfast was cooked she went outside and closed door and sat on her phone. Wi-Fi was non existent or occasionally would connect even though it was advertised as Wi-Fi in all places. We stayed at 10 different guesthouses along our route and every one was just perfect so I am not sure why this one was so dirty and unprofessionally run. Wouldn’t stay there again and cost was more than all the others. Avoid this guesthouse if you do not want to spoil your holiday.

Disgusting guest house and rude staff

Im from the USA, my fiance is from south Africa. This was an amazing experience and the Helderberg Guest house pretty gave us free access to everything. We will definitely stay here again. It's a short drive to everything with Helderberg right in the middle. 

Lets do it again

Our stay was amazing and the staff was very friendly. If I could ask to change one thing it would be for air conditioning on the hot days,  but there were only just a couple of days that were extremely hot.

Everything is in order. I have enjoyed every minute.It was the first time visiting Gordon's Bay with my partner. The area is calm and secured. The shops around makes things easier for us to get what we needed at the time. Lydia is good at her job. A walm welcoming from her and the Breakfast serving. Please keep up the good work Lydia.

The view was absolutely amazing. Every was neat and tidy and rooms are spacious.The staff was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely make a booking at Helderberg Guest House again as we had a blast.

If you book at this Guesthouse and you get the Merlot room, know that it is a converted double garage! This may give you lots of room , with an ensuite shower and toilet, small lounge area and coffee station but there are no windows! There is little privacy if you open the door for air, and at night the curtains must be closed or you are on view to all passers by.
The housekeeper was friendly and helpful; she produced a good, basic breakfast.
BUT the bed is broken! When we told the housekeeper this, she said that it has been reported before but the owner was not prepared to buy a new bed. So this queen size bed is supported underneath on bricks and the mattress is broken on the side so sleeping comfortably was NOT an option.

We have enjoyed our stay at Helderberg Guest House. Everything was perfect. The rooms wete neat and comfortable. We also loved the breakfast. Children loved the view of the mountain and the sea.  Thank you

Really enjoyed our stay there. Must go back and visit. Near the beach and town. Very close to cape to city. Spacious rooms . Staff are friendly. Good value for money . Rooms are exceptionally clean and tidy
