Checked in to stay overnight for the trail run. Staff were very hospitable and had no problem changing our room for a better view. We were given a scrumptious breakfast after we competed our run. Great host and wonderful people. 

Mandela Trail Run 

On the good side, the cottage had beautiful views from the patio and we were very comfortable. On the other hand, there was a half a glass of water in the room which was a bit strange 8- ) The rooms and gardens could use a bit of work but good enough for a 3*. Good value for money I think and was very conveniently located for our purpose.

We had a good time, perfect for what we needed - a bed at the end of the day after a day watching sport at Michaelhouse, breakfast was delicious, Pretty was a delight.
Lots of history and hopefully will not be lost

I booked the honeymoon suit for the night of my wedding in April 2019. Sadly I was so disappointed with the condition of the property and the room that I ended up booking elsewhere the morning of my wedding.
There were 3 things that I just could not look past:

1) the unkept pathways. Walking from the car park to the rooms I could not help but notice all the weeds. On our special day the last thing I would want to do that evening is have to pick weeds off my clothing.

2) the water stained couch. Walking in to the honeymoon suite one can not help but notice the big water stain on the brown couch. While this is slightly disguised by the pillows it does not give a good first impression.

3) the dirty carpets. Paying the premium of a honeymoon suite the last thing I expected to see was dirty carpets. 

The photos online were definitely taken a few years ago and the property could do with a facelift.



Needs a lot of maintenance 

Atop of the Midlands Meander, KwaZulu Natal. The honeymoon suite was perfect! The only drawback was I was there for only a weekend! Lynne was the perfect host for such a beautiful setting, she kindly chauffeured me to the hotel I was shooting photographs and on the way she had some amazing stories to tell about her travels. An idyllic stay I will definitely be returning next year for a private break.

Exquisitei and Lasting Memories at Lastingham Country Lodge

I would definitely recommend this lodge if you are looking for a great spot to sleep over and experience the KwaZulu-Natal midlands. The hosts are very friendly and the service is impeccable. Paul and Karen.
