We stayed in the two bedroom apartment on the top floor and contrary to some other reviews, we loved the place.  The staff were very, very friendly and helpful and our apartment was absolutely spotless.  They were constantly asking us if they could help.  I would say the noise from the road wasn't the best but that's nothing compared to the positives.  I loved the breakfast there!

Great value for money!

Apartment spacious and very comfortable. Beds excellent. Bathroom excellent. Breakfast excellent. Staff excellent, friendly and helpful. Car parking very convenient. Location very convenient to sites.

Excellent experience

First of all it is good to know that there are two san gennaro pensions,one in the old center and the second about 500-1000 m to the old center.we stayed at the second one,on consiliul europei street.it was nice and cosy,the personal very helpfull and pacient with our two years old boy.the dinner was great,the breakfast tasty and fresh.the room is clean and comfy.

A pleasant stay

For a memorable stay in one of Transylvania's more infamous settings, look no further than Pensiune San Gennaro. Situated in a primo position, in one corner of the Citadel's magnificent baroque plaza (literally meters from the birthplace of Vlad Dracul), the four rooms of this two hundred-plus year old terrace building offer a spacious and elegant blend of traditional and modern - from plush red carpets adorned with fleurs de lys and ornamental hand painted furniture - to flat screen TVs and bar fridges.  A massive king-sized bed completes the picture. 

Of course, nothing is absolutely perfect: the wi-fi signal is poor (as in much of Romania), and the shower could do with a little upgrading. Rooms are reached by a time-worn wooden stairwell, and sit above a tastefully decorated restaurant, where ancient etchings and blood-soaked swords adorn the walls.  The menu includes pizzas from a wood-fire oven.  For modest a rate, lodgings also include a hearty breakfast. The staff is welcoming and speak excellent English.

Next door to Vlad's.

The hotel was great except for one thing.  The shower in room 6 had no way to keep the water flooding the bathroom floor.  The only way to take a shower was turn the water flow down to a trickle.  How can a shower be designed with no pan? The room was very clean.  Excellent location and good breakfast.  We would have given it 5 stars with the exception of the shower.  The staff was ver nice and friendly.  Best to inspect the shower when checking in.

Great hotel with one exception!

They had some holyday yesterday so they were late with breakfast. Wasn't good at all! The cook even yelled at us when we went looking for them because the reseption was closed...
Bad service, bad bathroom in the room and funny smell. 
Good location, very close to everything. 

Bad breakfast

This guesthouse has a pizzeria/small restaurant on the ground floor (which was not serving pizza when we were there, as the oven was broken), so the entire building smelled of burned oil. The room was small, cleaned with approximation, with only one functional power socket and the bathroom was really dirty. 
And the breakfast was the cherry on the cake: it looked so bad that we could not touch anything. And we also had no coffee.

Terrible

I've booked one room via booking.com, as it seemed decent. But in reality, it was absolutely horrible, therefore I refused spending the night there and searched for another accommodation.
The bed sheets were looking used, there was animal and human hair everywhere, the shower was broken, old furniture, dirty walls, dirty floors. Better avoid!!!!
