Fantastic
1005 reviewsStayed here with my dad late January for a few nights. VERY nice place. It's got an old cottage vibe because of all the plants, including over the outside walls. Upon arriving, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to the cosy rooms. The door to the rooms have old school keys not key cards. (I'd prefer proper keys). Before reaching the rooms, I noticed straight away all the real plants dotted about, and they all looked well too, which is so lovely for the overall atmosphere of the place. The rooms are nicely spaced out and roomy inside, also very tidy, but parts of the floors are very 'old house creaky'. Anytime someone walks about upstairs you can hear it. I did sleep with earplugs for the brief time I was there, so slept alright. There are friendly courtesy notices in each room stating that quiet time is around 10:30 until 7am which is thoughtful, and they seem to work because I didn't notice any noisy guests. Going back to the beds - the size of the ones in mine and my dad's room was a triple which isn't too bad, but the mattress that was on mine initially set my lower back issues off after the first night. However, I noticed that there's a slide out bed underneath. There's a big rug in the room that the bed partially sat on, so the bed at the bottom was a bit of a bugger to slide out. The mattress on that one was more firm and supportive so I swapped them over and then slept MUCH better the following nights ; p It's definitely worth it for a few different mattresses (soft - firm) to be made available, so that people can specify their needs. That would be proper helpful and worthwhile. It's a self catering arrangement at this place, and there's a communal shared fridge upstairs on the landing between the 2nd and 3rd floors. If it's financially doable, it would be a lot nicer if there were private mini fridges in the rooms instead. Speaking of self catering, there's loads of little shops that are quite similar to the One Stops / Spar / Nisa like we have in Britain. Now, I love to start my day with porridge oats with various fruits and nuts with soy or oat milk, and there was plenty of that available to have a tidy healthy breakfast. But I noticed straight away that there was no bowl or spoon, so I asked a person at reception if I could borrow one of each and they were ok with that. Nice that is, cheers. The bathroom in the rooms were nice. No problems with anything at all except for the plastic shower curtain in bathroom in my room. It was rubbish! It wouldn't catch all the water and after every shower, the tiled sides would be soaked, almost leaking over onto the main floor. One of those softer ones would be much better off. Also, there's a shared balcony which was gorgeous to chill on for a little while in the morning when the sun was out. But unfortunately smoking is allowed. It would be much nicer if smoking was only allowed outside, or down at the end of the main garden because that stink is vile and wrecks the otherwise wonderful atmosphere of the place. One last bit of praise before ending - a member of staff said that because our flight home was late evening, we could use one of the rooms to store some stuff in and have a late checkout. That's very understanding and kind fair play. Especially seeing as regular check out is about 11am. I would stay at the Globtroter again, just as long as the mattress issue is sorted and that crappy plastic shower curtain is gone =P Thanks for a pleasant stay. Best wishes from Wales =)
