Hostel "Estrella" Backpackers

This quaint little courtyard hostel was a highlight of our trip in Peru. The warm and cosy environment hosted by a residential family was very lovely. The family who hosted the hostel were extremely friendly and even though they hardly spoke any English they made us feel welcome and comfortable. The beds were warm and cosy once the city got cold at night and the balcony looking over the city was awe inspiring. The flight to Cusco lost our bags (tenporarily) as there was a canceled flight from Dallas to Lima. The man who owned the hostel couldn't have been more helpful and for that we wanted to thank him. There was a knack to getting the hot water in the showers to work but as it seemed from our backpacking around Peru hot water was a rarity. We had the chance to stay in an upmarket hostel after or trek to matchupichu once leaving this hostel but because of the hosting and environment we chose to go back to this lovely family after our trek. It is a very good price for what you get and we couldn't ask for more. The little dog 'Perla' was tons of fun and lit up our evening when we came home. I wish I asked the name of the the man who owned the hostel as this place will stay in our hearts for a very long time. We will definitely be back and advise our friends on this place when they visit Peru. Unfortunately there was a mix up with currency conversion rates when we paid meaning we underpaid the hosts, we are trying to get in contact with them to pay the full amount.
