My expectations for a hostel are limited. Must have something to do with experiences in my youth.
This place is nothing like hostels in my youth!
Very nice family room (with its own bathroom), a lake for swimming, breakfast included, free parking, playground and other nice stuff.
Nicely kept by a young, international and professionally acting crew.
The surrounding area put my eyes and mind at ease in between visits to Stavanger and Preikestolen.
This hostel gets my warmest recommendations.



Beautiful, peaceful location, next to the lake.  Bright, clean and simple room.  Basic breakfast.  Service person is always pleasant and very helpful.  Considering there are not too many hotels in Tau and this is a hostel, this place well exceeded my expectation.

Absolutely idyllic location- breath taking on first approach, allows you to reflect on life and fully relax. Surrounding lake and mountains, covered in snow, they are beautiful in a Superb and peaceful location, I recommend this hostel for groups travelling or families big or small. Rooms with large windows allowing the light to seep through in the morning, with great back up curtains. The beds feel like you are on a cloud because the duvet is very soft and so are the pillow. The rooms are also hygienic and clean equipped with power shower in the ensuite and unlimited use of soft Towells, hair Towells, body towells and flannels. On our first day we were welcomed by the friendly local Norwegian receptionist who told us clear directions to the Kgerag. we then woke up to an incredible all you can eat breakfast, with honey eggs and muesli. Great communal area , well equipped kitchen . Cheap and great access to canoes and lake allowing you to absorb the relaxing environment ( beware of the second lake under the bridge because it's a bit more choppy- also do not sailing advice from the staff- it was lucky we had experienced rowers in the team- sheep have the tendency to be viscous on the other side of the lake). Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area ! A must stay. 

Pro:
The area is peaceful - next to a lake with mountains on the horizon - one can really rest there - but it's far from any civilization ;)
Interiors were nice, you could use fully stuffed kitchen till evening.
Big parking.

Con:
Far from any shops etc - definately for motorized ones.
Internet it slow, and almost does not work in half of the rooms.
Breakfast was a hostel style one - 1/4th of what you get in a regular hotel - but it was enough.

We stayed 3 night at this place this summer. A very nice place to stay to hike the Preikestollen and paying a visit to Stavanger. Hotel staff was very friendly and the large rooms where simple but very clean. Large kitchen with good facilities available.
