Our room was big, clean and tastefully furnished, and the owner was welcoming and friendly.  Beautiful location in the center of Steenwijk. Good value for money. We can certainly recommend it if you want to visit Steenwijk and surroundings

Very nice and friendly little hotel

The hotel is located in the old city center of Steenwijk, a few minutes walk from the trainstation. We stayed here for an event this was a good choice, the hotel even arranged rented bicycles for us to explore the area. We had the "boerenbedstee" room, which is cozy, but includes everything you need (a nice bed, table, chairs, television, coffee/tea and bathroom with bath). Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is also a cute shop downstairs. We did notice the city center was noisy at night (until 04:00) because of some bars around the area. Please make sure to have a non street facing room, there is hardly any noise there. Also note, there is a rule about eating a hot meal in the room, which is not allowed.

Charming hotel

With a breakfast room located in the old forge. The decoration is beautiful and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The owner is in very little care and has a very understandable English for our small levels of English. She has a coffee shop, tea, trinket at the rdc. We bought her an excellent coffee. The very quiet and clear room has all the comforts. Only the small bemool is the very steep and narrow staircase like many in old Dutch houses. Seniors or people with reduced mobility this hotel. Otherwise it is an excellent address. The city is very quiet although we fall on the day of the King's feast.

Very charming little hotel.

A former blacksmith owned by the managing family for centuries. 
A place that you simply want to say to have been in. Authentic. Unique. Warm and cosy. The family managers are of exquisite manners. Welcoming and helpful. The breakfast served in the former blacksmith workshop is just an experience by itself. Super highly recommended when you visit giethoorn. 

THE place you want to try

An old horse-breeding farmhouse, warm, cozy, picturesque, in the center, deliciously owned, spacious rooms, excellent cleanliness, come and immerse yourself in the past and experience, in my opinion, notes.

Amazing.

Note:  Steenwijk is not Giethoorn!  This hotel came up when I entered Giethoorn, the destination most travellers are after when visiting this part of  Holland.  Steenwijk is actually about a 20 minute drive from Giethoorn, and there are many wonderful places to stay right where you more likely want to be.  This was partially my error, but it also felt like bait-and-switch.  I discovered the actual location of this hotel and cancelled exactly one hour and fifteen minutes after booking.  In spite of repeated requests and appeals for reason, the hotel manager Gabrielle refused to give me a refund because I was (but minutes) outside of their one-hour cancellation policy.  I pleaded for kindness and common sense but none was offered.  Whether this energy permeates the hotel itself I cannot say, but be absolutely sure it’s where you want to stay.  You will find no leniency.

Mean Spirited Management

We stayed just one night at this hotel, but enjoyed the most fabulous & friendly service. The lovely room was both very comfortable & beautifully furnished. This establishment has great character & our only regret was that we had just one nigh,t in which to enjoy it. I rarely write reviews but this place deserves the effort. I hope you enjoy it as mush as we did!

It looked great & proved wonderful!

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Our room was a lovely suite with a very comfortable king-size bed and all the facilities needed to make oneself at home. Our friendly hostess, Gabriella, served us a fabulous breakfast each morning in the historic "Forge" which is part of the great history of this heritage-listed property. Gabriella also gave us great advice on nearby restaurants, car hire and places of interest. 
I can highly recommend this hotel and the host/hostess and we hope to pass this way again ourselves.
